    Usher/Ticket Taker Working TitleEvent Staff Department/DivisionConvention and Visitor Bureau - Virginia Beach Convention Center Job TypePart Time -Requisition ID: 25127 Work Location: Convention & Visitors Bureau - Convention Center Pay Range: H.3023, $8.50 Starting Salary: Minimum of the Pay Range Work Schedule: Varied according to event schedule Part Time Hours/Wk: Varied according to event schedule Application Deadline: 4/29/18 Job Duties: -Greet patrons at Convention Center entrances -Verify tickets/Wristbands for proper events -Perform ticket taking/scanning at main doors -Direct patrons to the correct rooms/halls in the building -Answer general questions in reference to events, the facility and Virginia Beach restaurants, attractions, historical landmarks -Provide basic security at facility doors while checking identification of patrons and vendors both entering and exiting the building -Assist with informing patrons and vendors of building policies and procedures while also enforcing said policies -Ability to work with Duty Managers, Security, EMT staff and city Police with crowd management during heavily attended events -Excellent verbal communication skills with both internal and external customers -Will serve as a host/hostess in main areas during events; provide coat check service to patrons during inclement weather and other duties as needed on a group by group basis -Position is subject to varied climates during certain events -Must wear a provided uniform in accordance with Convention Center uniform policies -Excellent customer service skills -Resolve customer conflicts in a calm and helpful manner -Ability to stand for extended periods of time as well as sit, crouch, bend or kneel -Ability to withstand loud entertainment -Ability to work in low light conditions -Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team -Other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements High school graduate/GED. One year experience in public service working with large groups of people in a venue of similar capacity preferably in ticketing, usher, customer service or event staff Special Requirements Flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays with an emphasis on weekdays. Computer proficiency for web based training as well as basic computer knowledge of email and internet browser. Must complete and pass Trained Crowd Manager program approved by the Convention Center within two months of hire and maintain certification.Must complete FA/CPR/AED training within four months of hire date and maintain certification.
