Specific duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Technical Support - Perform preliminary review to ensure compliance with submittal requirements of the City's zoning, subdivision and site plan ordinances and to assign and issue street names and addresses. Coordinate and provide technical, research, geographic information system and graphic support for Planning Departments Boards, Commissions and related planning activities. Provides first draft letters for final plat subdivisions New city map verification and update of Planning Layers Research Accela, City Map and older files for specific request from other Planning Divisions Customer Service - Ability to distinguish between related, but different, programs and direct customers to the correct agency. (for example, there are several different places to direct a customer with a stormwater concern) Ability to interpret and gather enough information from the customer to prepare the staff planner or engineer for the interaction. Communication between customer and staff is more effective when staff member is able to prepare with information, applications, files, etc. Ability to communicate clearly using tact and diplomacy given the regulatory nature of the department. Ability to walk customers through the use of ACA (Accela Citizen Access) and other online resources that are useful for Planning Department cases or applications. Familiarity with Plannings processes, procedures and ordinances to assist with intake, tracking, and stamping of submittals. Ability to read and interpret surveys, engineering plans and architectural drawings to assist with the preparation of letters and reports Ability to provide information to fellow City employees and other Departments regarding departmental programs, department locations and scope of activity. Special Project Examples - Prepares special reports involving software programs using various computer files and provide data entry and information/report services in support of the professional staff. Local Update of Census Addresses a Federal program to support decennial census requires concurrent use and proficiency in two geographic information systems to improve address list to be used to conduct decennial census. Additional Census Projects to follow including the ongoing activity of improving local access to new Census Data in 2020 and beyond. Microfiche to Laserfiche to Accela Record Many Planning records are on permanent retention schedules, but, the original media are deteriorating with time. This project converts microfiche to digital files that are stored and accessed as individual project records in Accela. The ideal candidate will also have experience with professional planning tools and materials (i.e. Plats, maps, GIS, Pictometry, Accela, Hansen, Microsoft Office Suite, and other similar applications). Experience processing & finding information from complex development plans and submittals. Experience providing land development customer service on the phone or in person.
