    Summer Outreach Intern CIVILIAN COMPLAINT REVIEW BD - New York, NY 10006 $13.00 - $15.50 an hour - Temporary, Internship The Civilian Complaint Review Board (?CCRB?) is one of the oldest and largest Civilian Review Boards in the country. It is charged with investigating and mediating complaints which members of the public file against New York City police officers involving the use of force, abuse of authority, discourtesy or offensive language. In addition to investigating complaints and making recommendations to the Police Commissioner where allegations are substantiated, the CCRB also has an Administrative Prosecution Unit that prosecutes charges and specifications in the Police Department disciplinary proceedings. In addition to a Mediation Unit, the CCRB has a Training Unit that supports the effectiveness of the agency?s staff. The CCRB also has a Policy Unit which gathers data and writes reports, an Outreach Unit that raises awareness about the agency and its authority, as well as engages in public education activities, and administrative unit committed to the operations of the agency. The CCRB is governed by a Board consisting of 13 members who are appointed by the Mayor, the City Council and the Police Commissioner. The Executive Director reports to the Board and manages the day-to-day operations of the agency at the direction of the Board. The CCRB currently investigates approximately 4,500 complaints each year. Additional information concerning the CCRB is available at www.nyc.gov/ccrb. The CCRB is seeking a summer outreach intern that will perform the following duties: -Update and maintain outreach unit?s databases of contacts, statistical outreach and email platform-Identify and contact external partners to schedule outreach events including civic boards, community boards, public housing (NYCHA), precinct councils, community-based organizations, elected officials? offices, universities and other academic institutions-Conduct outreach presentations to various community, governmental and non-profit groups throughout the five boroughs-Participate in special projects new initiatives-Data entry-Email Correspondence-Representing the Agency at resource fairs and youth-oriented events Minimum Qual Requirements As of June of the Program year the prospective interne must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
