About the Position Performs a variety of first-line services in support
of traffic control, customer service, ground transportation, patrol and
security to enhance the public's experience at the McCarran
International Airport. This recruitment will establish an Open
Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies
which may occur within the next six months. This recruitment is limited
to the first 250 completed applications received, and will close without
further notice when that number is reached, even if it is prior to the
closing date posted on this job announcement. The Department of Aviation
reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the
hiring interview. Requirements Equivalent to graduation from high school
and three years of full-time public contact experience, preferably at a
large public facility. Some law enforcement or security experience is
desirable. Qualifying education and experience must be clearly
documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the
application. Applicants not meeting these requirements will not be
considered for employment. Licensing and Certification: Possess a valid
Nevada Class C Driver's License with appropriate endorsements at time of
hire. Working Conditions: Work evening, night, weekend and holiday
shifts. Work with exposure to heavy traffic with exposure to potentially
hazardous emissions and fumes. Work out of doors in all weather
conditions. Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the
results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
A drug and alcohol screening is part of this examination. Pre-Employment
Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a
pre-employment drug examination. Residency Requirement: Permanent
employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the
boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada
motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of
employment. Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation
is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background
investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check
processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security
badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note:
all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID's,
displaying identical names, upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of
acceptable ID's include a Passport, Driver's License or DMV issued ID,
birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school
issued ID with picture, etc. Customs and Border Protection Security Seal
Program: Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is
contingent upon a five year employment and residency history record
check and the ability to present original identity based documentation
in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal. Physical Demands
Strength and mobility to work in an airport exterior location, to stand
and walk for extended periods of time, and to drive a variety of
vehicles; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to
communicate in person over a two-way hand held radio and over the
telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands

accommodation. Examples of Duties Directs, monitors and maintains
vehicular traffic control at McCarran airport; explains to visitors the
reasons and results of impeded flow and issues notices of civil
infraction under Nevada State statutes as required. Assists airport
users, directs them to the proper location and ensures their safety;
provides special assistance to disabled patrons; assists with crowd
control in specified situations. Provides a variety of information to
and answers questions of passengers and other visitors regarding such
items as airline location, surface transportation, available parking
facilities, etc. Pages illegally parked drivers prior to towing the
vehicle; drives a tow truck and removes such vehicles after citing.
Responds as directed to accidents or other emergency or disaster
situations; communicates and coordinates activities with the shift
supervisor, the Airport Services Coordinator and public safety
personnel. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's
service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or
participating as an active member of a work team. May provide work
instruction to less experienced staff. Patrols parking facilities,
roadway systems and other areas on foot or in a vehicle for security,
accident prevention and parking surveillance; attempts to resolve
difficult visitor situations and calls for appropriate assistance in
criminal situations. Assists public ground transportation vehicles such
as busses, taxis and other vehicles in maintaining the traffic flow on
airport premises; assigns bus stalls at main and charter terminals. May
use standard office equipment, drive various vehicles and a use a
two-way radio in the course of the work. Maintains logs and records
related to the work; reports unusual incidents as specified. Inspects
badges and vehicle decals before allowing access to airport security
locations to ensure compliance with FAA and airport regulations. May
perform routine maintenance and landscape duties May drive an airport
shuttle bus, assist with VIP arrivals or departures and perform a
variety of similar services. Testifies in court in connection with
notices of infraction or citations issues. Group Insurance: Health and
dental insurance is available at a minimal expense to eligible
employees, spouses and dependents. The County pays the monthly life
insurance premium for eligible employees. Service Connected Disability
Insurance: Eligible employees are covered by a Workman's Compensation
Program in accordance with the provisions of the Nevada Industrial
Insurance Act (NRS Chapter 616) and the Nevada Occupational Diseases Act
(NRS 617). Long-Term Disability Insurance: The County pays a monthly
premium toward a long-term disability plan for eligible employees.
Vacation: Vacation leave accrual is based on length of County
employment. Initial accrual is at the rate of 3.08 vacation hours for
each biweekly pay period. Sick Leave: Eligible employees accrue 3.7
hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period. Employees completing
10 years of service accrue an additional .92 hours of sick leave per
biweekly pay period. Miscellaneous Leaves: Court leave, military leave,
parental leave, leave without pay, blood donor leave, education leave,
and County promotional/transfer application examination leave are
available (upon approval) for eligible permanent employees. Retirement:
Full-time employees become a member of the Nevada State Public Employees
Retirement System. Credit Union: Clark County employees and their
families are eligible to join the Clark County Credit Union. Tuition
Reimbursement: Subject to availability of funds, eligible employees may
be awarded tuition reimbursement upon successful completion of
