This coordination includes communications between Ranger units, the public, supervisory personnel and other municipal emergency services, performing records, wants and warrants checks. Enter track and update data into the Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) and the department computer network (CAD). * High School diploma or equivalent; preferably, completion of one year of college level course work or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. * Related clerical or business experience, preferably including experience as a law enforcement dispatcher. * Preferred existing or past (within two years) Law Enforcement Automated Data Systems certification. * Knowledge of the geography of Cleveland Metroparks and adjacent municipalities. * Ability to read/interpret maps and verbalize directions. * Demonstrated ability to consistently multi-task on a regular basis. * Ability to direct Ranger vehicles. * Ability to input and retrieve computer information. * Ability to remain calm in emergency situations. * Excellent diction and hearing. * Working knowledge of computers, word processing, good typing skills, prior Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) experience, and filing skills. * Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. * Ability to work under stress, pressure and confidential circumstances. * Must be able to work swing shifts, weekends, and holidays and overtime. * No serious misdemeanor convictions and no felony convictions. * Must have a good driving record (less than six (6) active points on driving record at the application stage of the hiring process) and possess a valid State of Ohio Driver's License. * Must be a non-smoker/tobacco user. HIRING PROCESS: * Qualified applicants will be notified of a date and location of a written examination and typing test. * Those candidates achieving a minimum passing score of 70% and above on the written exam will be ranked on a cumulative scale based on both exams and interviews will be conducted according to rank. * Candidates selected from the interview process will be required to complete a law enforcement index or equivalent position assessment and a background investigation including drug, polygraph, and psychological testing. * Candidates successfully passing a background investigation will be required to complete a medical examination prior to appointment as a dispatcher. This process can take between 2-3 months to complete. * Candidates who are not selected for employment, and were not disqualified during the background investigation, may reapply when another vacancy is posted.
