About the Role:

This is a key role within our MARS Platform team to deliver Latest platform and infrastructure services to ConnectionPoint and MAXe clients. The ideal candidate will have strong, hands on technical knowledge, along with great listening skills and be able to visualize the big picture from clients as well as the team’s perspective.

You’ll be a technical expert, who has worked on projects from inception to delivery. You’ll have experience working in a consulting role, leading multiple junior engineers to deliver automated, secure, and robust cloud infrastructure solutions.

You’re happy and excited to get involved in various levels of technical discussions, from architecture to hands on coding and learn something new every day. A good knowledge in infrastructure technology preferably on AWS cloud is highly advantageous, as is a programming background. You will work within the MARS Platform team who are responsible for building highly resilient, scalable, reusable and performant platform and underlying infrastructure in an automated and efficient manner to support the ConnectionPoint and MAXe applications.

• Ability to see big picture while troubleshooting an issue or designing a solution.
• Knack to think about indirect impacts along with direct impact of any action to be performed.
• Inquisitiveness and curiosity are most important.

Edge factor

• Some understanding of AWS IaaS and typical Architecture practices and working knowledge on AWS CLI
• Strong scripting skills preferably in Python, Perl, Unix shell scripting
• Some Knowledge of SSL certificates management
• Working knowledge some or all of AWS EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, EKS, Route53, SSM, Lambda, Auto-scaling and CodeCommit services
• At least basic skills with any one of the IAC (Infrastructure As Code) tools, preferably Terraform
• Exposure to AWS networking and security capabilities with at least some troubleshooting knowledge.
• Understanding of container technology (Kubernetes/Docker/TAS) is nice to have
• Some exposure to either developing or supporting software development projects utilizing AWS technologies.
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies and processes, and tools in support of DevOps practice would give you an edge.
• Must be willing to work in pair programming setup. Video on during the collaboration calls.
• Must be willing to be Production On-Call support
• Ability to travel 5-10% nationally on as needed basis

About MARS Platform Team

MARS Platform team was formed about 3 years ago, when Maximus decided to embark upon a journey to adapt the microservices architecture to modernize its product suit that caters to the customer needs. This modernization effort started with development of ConnectionPoint product hosted on VMWare Tanzu PaaS deployed in AWS. Apigee, API Manager Platform is used for all incoming API requests for all applications deployed on PaaS. Jenkins is used as a CI/CD tool with Jfrog as the artifact repository. Concourse is used for the PaaS upgrade and maintenance. Other AWS native services like ELK/Kibana, Amazon Aurora, EKS, CloudWatch/CloudTrail/Route53 service/Lambda/AWS Config/Secrets Manager. etc are used to support the core platform. Primary focus is on high reliability, scalability using automation as much as possible. Team uses DevOps/DevSecOps as standard processes and on Agile Scrumban and “pair programming” is at the core of its daily work culture. Team is a believer in “Automate first” philosophy and follow the “You build you own” concept.
