    Environmental Specialist - Pollution Control Salary $46,809.00 Annually Location Naples, FL Job Type Full Time, Regular Department Growth Management Department Job Number 05122 Closing 1/10/2019 11:59 PM Eastern Purpose of Classification This position is assigned to the Pollution Control Section of the Capital Project Planning, Impact Fees and Program Management in the Growth Management Department. Essential Functions Primary work will be in the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Sludge Vehicle Licensing, Wellfield Protection, and Pollution Complaint Programs; with initial high concentration of duties in the Wellfield Protection Program performing facility inspections. Performs occasionally sampling and field studies of surface water, groundwater, and sediment quality. Participation in educational/public outreach activities might be required. Must have excellent technical writing skills, excellent customer service skills, the ability to prepare detailed reports, schedule, and perform field activities. Job duties include responding to pollution complaints, investigating causes, and making recommendations for remedial actions or enforcement cases. Inspects biosolids/sludge/grease hauling trucks, package plants, and domestic waste land application facilities. Provides information and technical assistance concerning environmental regulations, domestic and hazardous waste management, waste disposal procedures, pollution control/prevention, hazard waste disposal, phase one environmental audit reports, natural resource protection, environmental review of site development plans, referral of regulatory violation for enforcement, and other issues to businesses, property owners, contractors, developers, and the public. All of the job duties may occasionally be required outside of standard office hours. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, or closely related field; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving pollution control, water quality monitoring, environmental assessment, ecological impact analysis, environmental permitting and/or environmental code enforcement. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with any applicable endorsements and maintain eligibility requirements and endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle.
