business need and available funding, the Colorado Department of Labor
and Employment may offer additional pay for positions that have
successfully completed training and require bilingual skills. This is
considered a temporary pay differential and is not included in base pay.
The Division of Workers' Compensation provides consistent and accurate
information regarding the Workers' Compensation process is given and to
ensure claims are handled smoothly and in compliance with all provisions
of the Workers' Compensation Act and the Rules of Procedure. This
position is located in the Customer Service Unit and serves as the front
line of communication to disseminate accurate information to injured
workers, attorneys, insurance carriers, employers, and other interested
parties regarding their rights and obligations under the Workers'
Compensation Statutes and Rules of Procedure. Serves in an early
intervention capacity to facilitate the resolution of disputes between
two parties; and to support other units with the Division of Workers'
Compensation by fielding questions regarding their area of expertise.
Position is required to work directly with the public in person and/or
via call center. The primary function of this position is to staff the
Workers' Compensation Call Center. Performs other clerical duties as
needed. Under direct supervision, this position will perform the
following duties. This position will answer phone inquiries and help
walk in customers regarding a wide variety of Workers' Compensation
issues and acts as a resource for directing callers to various agencies
regarding labor-related issues. Utilizes the Workers' Compensation
Statutes, Rules of Procedures, the internal computer system, and
information provided by parties to facilitate the resolution of their
disputes. Refer parties to mediation, pre-hearing conferences, or
administrative hearings, as needed. Advise parties of correct procedures
to access and make use of these services. Write letters or make phone
calls to employers and/or insurance carriers to inform them of their
statutory requirements. Assists with identifying their rights and
obligations under Workers' Compensation Law. Evaluates the situation by
eliciting relevant details from the parties and assist them in
completing and filing the necessary documents. Evaluates the validity of
the notarization on the authorization for release of information.
Investigate new claims where there does not appear to be an insurance
carrier. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications,
Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an
accredited institution in a field of study related to the work
assignment. Must be fluent in Spanish and English and requires speaking,
reading and writing in both languages. Substitutions: Work experience in
one or more of the following may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
for the required education: public relations, marketing, social work,
counseling, human resources, job development, personnel administration,
insurance or business management. Preferred Qualifications: * Excellent
customer service skills * Ability to multi task * Call center experience
