Among its comprehensive responsibilities, the Office of Transportation Safety provides the innovation, procedures, processes, training, learning tools and support which facilitate and promote a culture of high-performance within employee safety at CDOT. Promoting a high-performing safety culture is reflected in CDOT's Core Values, and is guided by our statewide safety process Excellence in Safety. The Office of Transportation Safety works diligently with other organizations to identify current problems and provide viable solutions to help make our CDOT employees provide products and services in a more effective, efficient and elegant manner. DUTIES include the following but not limited to: 1) Assisting the Office of Transportation Safety with the design and creation of safety-themed special projects to supplement current Excellence in Safety processes. 2) Capture and edit video, photography and audio using modern media devices and software suites. Convert rough media products into final products to be used in current CDOT communication venues. 2) Developing marketing and media campaigns to promote safety services and products within CDOT; targeted at internal employees statewide. 3) Develop recommendations and approaches for improving current internal websites, social media efforts and overall branding of safety products and services within CDOT Excellence in Safety Branding Guidelines. 4) Providing a summary presentation at the conclusion to OTS management of the internship regarding the internship experience; 5) Communicate well verbally and in writing on a variety of platforms and settings. 6) Occasional travel within Colorado. 7) Perform other duties as assigned. This position is currently located on CDOT's Headquarters Campus, 2829 W. Howard Pl., Denver, CO 80204. This location is easily accessible by transit, bike, or foot and provides great connectivity to the RTD transit (bus and light rail) and city trail network. Qualified candidates must be either: Any college student enrolled in an accredited community college, college or university seeking an Associates, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. degree. OR A certified participant in the Colorado Refugee Services Program. Stronger candidates will be those that demonstrate depth and breadth of skill and ability, through a combination of professional experience and formal training, to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. The Exceptional Candidate will be an undergraduate or graduate college/university student, or recent graduate as defined above, interested in applying learned and applied multimedia and visual marketing strategies in an organization and has proven accomplishments in the following: Completion of three (3) years or more in an accredited university in broadcast journalism, multimedia, or visual marketing related curriculum. Emphasis on advertising, application and web design is preferred. Knowledge and experience with strategy and execution of various media and marketing campaigns to best match identified stakeholders. Knowledge to operate digital video equipment, DSLR cameras and audio capture equipment. Hands-on experience creating products using Apple Final Cut Pro video editing software suite (including Compressor and Motion) and Adobe Illustrator, Photo Shop or Corel Draw. Hands-on experience creating accessible, responsive sites and web/phone applications. Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision. Ability to wear and function in various personal protective equipment. Ability to work in various weather conditions and indoor/outdoor maintenance environments. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite (including Visio), and Google mail ("Gmail") and related Google applications.
