Job Description
Project: Strategic Marketing for New Power Customer Programs
The 1312 Communications Specialist position will develop and implement strategic marketing and outreach plan s for the successful implementation of Power Enterprise customer programs, including Electrify Your Home, Solar Billing Plan and a battery storage program, in addition to supporting Peak Day Partners and other programs as needed. This position will analyze strategic marketing and outreach plans for maximum effectiveness.
The 1312 Public Information Officer will also support customer notifications, digital communications, social media, traditional media, community engagement, marketing, advertising, and public relations.
Essential Functions:
• Marketing and Advertising: Support on the development of marketing and communication materials for Power Enterprise customer programs and other marketing and advertising campaigns as needed. Collect and analyze metrics to evaluate effectiveness of marketing and advertising efforts.
• Outreach and Engagement: Assist with outreach efforts including in-person town hall events for SFPUC Power customers and community events to promote Power programs and projects.
• Project Management: Oversee and manage specific projects such as infrastructure project communications, emergency communications to Power customers, legally required mailings, and drafting quarterly reports or presentations for the SFPUC Commission, SFPUC Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) and/or other public bodies.
• Customer Service: Respond to direct inquiries from customers or members of the public, work with internal staff and third-party vendors to ensure that complex customer service requests are routed and responded to efficiently, provide updated talking points and program information to Call Center staff on a regular basis.
• Content Creation: Develop compelling and creative content for social media, e-newsletters, marketing collateral, website pages, and other Power Enterprise communications.
• Racial Equity: Support implementation of the SFPUC’s Racial Equity Action Plan, attend internal racial equity meetings, integrate equity into all Power communications projects.
• Other: Perform related duties as assigned .
Nature of the work:
The role combines office-based work with community-facing responsibilities, including attending in-person events throughout San Francisco. The position also requires transporting, setting up, and moving materials and supplies to support these events.
Qualifications
Education : Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience : Two (2) years of professional experience in public relations, public affairs, public information, editorial, newspaper, magazine, radio, television, social media, digital engagement, advertising, marketing or similar work directly responsible for the preparation and dissemination of news and information in a variety of formats for internal and external audiences, wherein the preparation or direction of informational material for mass media on the development of a public information program was a major part of the position.
Substitution :
Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one year.
Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public relations, journalism, mass communications, marketing or a closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
