This position will research products and suppliers; perform cost analysis; conduct and review bids; negotiate terms and conditions; review and process requisitions, purchase orders, and contracts in the electronic procurement system; and may assist in administering contracts. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel throughout the County is required. Employees will be required to make provisions for transportation and may be required to use personal vehicles (mileage reimbursement is available). At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation. Minimum Requirements Education: A completed Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in purchasing/supply management, business or public administration, economics, accounting, finance or a closely related field. Note: Liberal arts degree is not qualifying. ---AND--- Experience: One (1) year of full-time buying experience for goods and/or services and/or processing transactions in an electronic procurement system. Substitution: Completion of a purchasing/supply management certificate program from an accredited institution may substitute up to one (1) year of full-time buying experience. Desired Qualifications Public sector experience and possession of one of the following certificates is highly desirable: Certified Public Purchasing Buyer (CPPB) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM). Experience in a centralized purchasing department with direct buying related experience is desired.
