Learn more about Santa Clara Valley Medical Center: Hospital and Clinics at www.scvmc.org and follow us on: Twitter I @scvmctalent Facebook I facebook.com/SCVMC LinkedIn | linkedin.com/scvmc Typical Tasks * Locates suspects and contacts of venereal and other communicable diseases; * Assists persons with a venereal disease or those exposed to same in receiving examination and treatment; * Interviews diagnosed cases of disease and their contacts; * Makes field investigations of persons suspected of having a venereal disease and those who have come in contact with it; * Maintains epidemiological control record of patients, contacts and suspects; * Maintains a central record file on communicable diseases; * Maintains records of locations where promiscuous activity occurs; * Reports suspicious conditions to police officials; * Maintains cooperative relationships with officials of the Armed Forces, State Department of Public Health and local police departments; * Assists with blood tests, Darkfields, gonorrhea smears and spinal counts; * Assists physician at venereal disease clinics; * Serves Health and Safety Code letters to patients infected with venereal disease; * Serves quarantine letters; * Testifies in court; * Distributes venereal disease educational materials; * Prepares reports and correspondence; * Performs related work as required. Employment Standards Graduation from an accredited college with a degree in biological or behavioral sciences or a related field and one year of professional experience in public health, hospital, investigation or a related field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis. Knowledge of: * Methods of transmission, diagnosis and treatment of venereal diseases; * Accepted techniques of venereal disease control; * Diagnostic tests for venereal diseases.
