    Deed Analyst/Abstractor I - Property Appraiser Salary $15.07 - $24.91 Hourly Location Fl 32720, FL Job Type Full-Time Department Property Appraiser Job Number 19-00000 Closing 12/3/2018 11:59 PM Eastern Major Functions The County of Volusia is seeking a Deeds Analyst I for our Property Appraiser's Office. This position is located in Deland, Florida and will be responsible for technical work in making transfers of property based on deed or other conveyance, calculating land values, and assisting the public in questions relating to land parcels. Knowledge of paper and electronic filing is necessary for accurate record keeping. Candidate must be resourceful utilizing county resources and work effectively with minimal supervision. Customer service is important in this position as the candidate must be able to discuss/communicate with property owners and other necessary parties on site. Candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Illustrative Duties ( NOTE: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position .) Updates tax roll by reviewing recorded documents, vital statistics, and other documentation requiring extensive data entry. Assists the public including county and state offices, real estate offices, lending institutions, engineering firms, surveyors, title companies, lawyers, owners and buyers, either in person or on the telephone relating to land and parcel ownership. Attends work on a regular and consistent basis. Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances. May be assigned to other locations based upon operational needs. Responds to emergency situations. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Graduation from high school or possession of a GED. One (1) year of experience in deed analysis or abstracting. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements such as one (1) year experience in a Property Appraiser's office, Title Company or Real Estate firm. Having met the minimum requirements, the preferred candidate will have at least two (2) years of experience working with data entry and Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of legal terminology used in tax assessment work. Knowledge of all types of deeds and instruments. Knowledge of the methods for granting and transferring title of property. Able to read and interpret a wide variety of maps, plats, aerial photographs and cartographic records. Able to understand laws and regulations affecting property appraisal. Able to express oneself clearly and concisely to the general public. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and county employees. Able to work under stressful conditions. Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Able to work under stressful conditions. Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.
