Physical Security Specialist - North Little Rock, AR - Overview Summary Work Schedule: 8AM-4:30PM M-F Position Description/PD#: Physical Security Specialist/PD# 04402-0 Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Duties Ensures the physical protection of sensitive items, restrictive areas, government property and equipment, personnel, facilities, resources, and/or other processes against trespass, theft, fire, accidental or willful damage, destruction, or other casualty and/or threat. Provides authoritative information and assistance to management officials on physical security policies and practices, and recommends procedures to effect safe physical security for CAVHS patients, employees and government equipment on a routine basis, to include providing authoritative assistance and recommendation to the facility Director on all matters pertaining to physical security, Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) and crime prevention, to include key and lock control program discrepancies and corrective recommendations. Implements and executes policies, procedures and orders (PP&O) in accordance with (IAW) VHA 0730/4, Security and Law Enforcement; VHA Directive 6500, Information Security Program and AR 190, the Veterans Affairs physical security policies, Medical Center's implementing policies, all of which are designed to protect the CAVHS site(s) assets including facilities, resources and personnel against destruction, misuse, theft, criminal or hostile activities. Executes procedures designed to safeguard or protect personnel, patients, property and resources; to protect restricted areas, and to ensure protection of items such as expensive and sensitive medical equipment and the handling of storage of restricted items and pharmaceuticals and narcotics; and to safeguard these items from sabotage, damage, misuse and theft. Employs and coordinates physical security measures and systems that may include devices and personnel and security procedures that will protect the CAVHS security assets. Assists and coordinated active and/or passive security measures such as lights, physical barriers to restricted areas, electronic entry control and intrusion detection systems, access control devices and systems, key control, surveillance systems, contracted security guards if authorized, and other measures as appropriate.
