The Iowa City VA Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is seeking one (1) full-time Details Clerk to work in the Benefits and Enrollment section of the Business Office. The ICVAHCS is one of the facilities in the VA Midwest Health Care Network (VISN 23). Duties The Details Clerk works as part of the Benefits and Enrollment Section of the Business Office within the Iowa City Health Care System. The incumbent's primary duties are to assist the families or the designee of a Veteran in determining eligibility and entitlement for burial benefits and allowances. The incumbent works primarily processing deaths and performs a variety of administrative duties to complete death packet information, burial arrangements and interment of eligible VA beneficiaries. The employee must perform duties associated with patient program support, program administration, customer service and other related duties as assigned. Additional duties include but are not limited to: -Interviews, advises, and assists regarding burial arrangements. -Maintains registry of funeral home directors. -If no next of kin is located, the incumbent arranges for burial service and views the Veteran at funeral home after he/she is prepared for burial. -Responsible for the administrative details relative to the release of the beneficiary's clothing, valuables, and funds in accordance with policy. -Responsible for determining entitlement to benefits and eligibility for interment in a National cemetery. - Completes all transportation arrangements of the Veteran. -Composes memos to physicians regarding autopsy information then uses the information sent back by the physician to prepare a letter to next of kin regarding autopsy findings. - Sets up recorded consent calls with next of kin for medical or surgical procedure when patient cannot give verbal consent. -Cross-trains with Beneficiary Travel Office to be able to assist when needed to include the processing of travel claims and other duties as assigned. - $33,394 $43,414 Job Details Application Open Date 3/31/2018 Application Close Date 4/20/2018 Organization Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration Who May Apply None Status None - Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
