If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. * Ensure that work papers are accurate, complete and correct and are prepared in accordance with OAE procedures and the Government Accountability Office Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), or the Council of the Inspector General on Integrity and Efficiency Quality Standards for Inspection and Evaluations. * Perform complex studies, research, and detailed analysis for audit topics that potentially lead to high interest projects. * Prepare various types of reports, briefings and testimony that cover all major financial and management aspects of VA programs. * Assign segments of the evaluation, review, inspection or audit to team members. Assess and discuss performance with subordinates, provides on the job training, and coaches and mentors others, as required. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: * Collecting, analyzing and summarizing evidence to support conclusions; AND * Researching laws, regulations, guidelines, and approved procedures to support or develop findings; AND * Providing input to evaluation report and preparing work papers. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: A master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D, if related. (Attach a copy of transcripts to ensure you receive proper credit). OR Combination of experience and education. This is creditable providing the combination consists of 100% of the requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. (Attach a copy of transcripts to ensure you receive proper credit). The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
