Specialized experience at the GS-09 level includes: Knowledge of patient safety guidelines, processes and protocols that provide oversight to surgical implant programs; VA/VHA Directives, National and VISN-level, JCAHO. Comprehensive knowledge of VistA, Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), Surgery Package, Non-OR Package, Appointment Management, Windows XP, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, Dragon dictation software and any other software or database system utilized by Surgery Service and the facility. Detailed knowledge of information processing functions of Surgery Service to provide data from various data bases for reporting purposes, reviews, and training. Ability to communicate in a professional manner and possess appropriate interpersonal skills to effectively deal with individuals from various backgrounds, knowledge levels and cooperativeness levels. oral and writing communication skills for speaking in front of individuals and/or groups, writing policies, procedures, memoranda, and training materials. Interpersonal skills are necessary to handle disputes between service/specialties/nursing staff and Prosthetic, Acquisition and other staff regarding surgical implant requests and requirements and initiating negotiable solutions must also be demonstrated. Skill in explaining and organizing complex issues in writing concerning surgical implants is also required. Knowledge of Implantable devices in regard to VISN 9 directives and compliance guidelines, HCPS and ICD codes. Must have a knowledge of inventory, receiving, distribution, organization, storage and rotation of implantable supplies for detection of outdates, and stock level maintenance. OR, - Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you mut have Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related. OR, - Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education.
