Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (MSA) Trainer/Auditor - White City, OR - Overview Summary This position is located within the Business Office Department at the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center & Clinics in White City, Oregon. The primary responsibility of the incumbent is the development and implementation of the ongoing training programs for employees within BOS as well as staff within other services that have responsibility for using BOS packages to perform their duties with the focus being on training the Medical Support staff on the scheduling package to include the Electronic Wait List (EWL), Recall System and Veterans Choice Program. The incumbent also is responsible for supervision of all administrative staff at the Klamath Falls Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). Duties The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (MSA) position serves as the direct line supervisor for Medical Support Assistant (MSA) staff in the Klamath Falls Community Based Outpatient Clinic. Incumbent will supervise 1 GS 7 Lead Medical Support Assistant and 4 GS 6 Advanced Medical Support Assistants. This Supervisory work will be conducted primarily remotely from the VA SORCC White City campus in conjunction with the Klamath Falls CBOC Operations Manager. The incumbent will travel to the Klamath Falls CBOC one day per week(weather permitting, otherwise by V-Tel)to participate in clinic staff meetings and other work that requires on site participation. The primary focus of this position is to conduct training and scheduler auditing. Assignment: Supervisory MSAs at this level plan and direct programs at medical centers and/or satellite outpatient clinics and have full supervisory responsibility for supervising at least one subordinate team leader or supervisor. Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to: - assigning and evaluating the work of subordinate staff; - resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met; - evaluating new products, equipment, and systems in order to make recommendations for improved operations; - identifying educational or training needs; - making final decisions on selections; - evaluating performance, and taking disciplinary action when necessary. - The employee has full administrative and professional responsibility for planning and directing the MSA's activities. - Responsible for extracting and analyzing data in order to provide reports in support of performance measures to senior management. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher level duties must consist of significant scope, administrative independence, complexity (difficulty) and range of variety as described in this standard at the specified grade level and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time.
