    Whole Health Coordinator (Dietician) - Danville, IL - Overview Summary The Whole Health Partnership (WHP) Program Manager will report to the Associate Chief of Staff, Ambulatory Care Service. This incumbent will be responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of multiple programs aimed at pro-active, patient-driven, and patient-centered care, while promoting health and well-being at VAIHCS. The WHP Manager has technical, professional, and administrative responsibility for planning, developing, organizing, staffing, implementing, and evaluating a functionally comprehensive WHP program. The WHP manager maintains expertise in the ability to consult on a wide range of complementary and integrative health practices and initiatives that include nutrition, mindfulness, stress reduction, movement, community resources, and complementary approaches. While providing direct supervision of staff hired for the WHP program, this incumbent will also provide direct budgetary supervision of the WHP program. This incumbent will provide leadership with established priorities for improvement and opportunities for disseminating and sustaining best practices related to a wide range of complementary and integrative health approaches that are supportive of improved patient outcomes and medical center mission. Other duties include, but are not limited to the following: - Provides high level professional and management support of specialized activities directly supporting the WHP and PACT programs for the medical center and four surrounding CBOCs. - Establishes organizational structure and guidelines and assumes responsibility for program planning and staff development across a variety of clinical settings for implementation of all WHP program activities for multi-disciplinary PACTs. - Establishes program monitors and outcomes as well as other local data source measurements required for the clinical performance and other outcome assessment or best practice guidelines, using a data-driven quality assurance process to meet facility strategic plan and WHP program goals. - Assures that all program policies and procedures are in compliance with VHA regulations, Central Office directives, VISN guidelines, Medical Center Memorandums, Union Master agreement, professional guidelines and all accrediting and regulatory agencies. A bachelor's degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent and completion of a didactic program in dietetics accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), formerly known as the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education (CADE). - Supervised Practice: Completion of a post-baccalaureate degree ACEND accredited or approved supervised practice program. tYou must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing branch of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics formerly known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA).Basic knowledge of principles and practices of dietetics and Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). Exception: Non-CDR registered applicants who otherwise meet the minimum qualification requirements may be appointed, pending CDR registration, as a temporary full-time graduate dietitian under 38 U.S.C. 7405(a)(1)(B). In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7405(c)(2), this appointment may not exceed 2 years. Applicants appointed under this exception must provide care under the supervision of a registered dietitian at or above the full performance level. Applicants who fail to obtain CDR registration during this temporary full-time appointment may be terminated. For grade levels at the full performance level (GS-11) the candidate must be registered with the CDR. Grade Determinations: GS-12 Dietitian (Full-Performance Level). Creditable Experience or Education. At least 1 year of experience as a registered dietitian equivalent to the next lower grade level serving in either clinical systems management dietician positions under general supervision, or education equivalent to 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education, or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited university or college in the field of dietetics or closely related field. (Time spent in a dietetic internship or supervised practice program does not qualify as creditable experience.) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, you must demonstrate the following KSAs. Knowledge of best practices in the dietetics profession and in scientific literature, including knowledge of research methods, study design, data collection, interpretation of findings, and translation of results into nutrition practice. - Ability to comply with various accrediting, regulatory, and agency authorities. - Ability to develop and maintain a system of internal reviews and direct quality control and performance improvement studies. - Knowledge of computer software programs relative to food service systems. - Knowledge of the principles and practices of nutrition care and the treatment of complex cases in clinical settings in order to develop, implement and coordinate best practices in the dietetics profession (e.g. assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and evaluation). - Knowledge of best practices in areas of clinical nutrition and the ability to apply nutrition interventions to patients with multiple co-morbidities. - Ability to act as a consultant for health care providers including registered dietetic technicians, dietetic interns, nurses, physicians, medical students, and allied health professionals. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-12 Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continues walking, standing, stopping, sitting , bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patient and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/ invasive procedures. The incumbent mah occasionally be exposed to veterans who are combative secondary delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs.
