The Supervisory Social Worker also consults clinically with 1 Chief HBPC, 1 LTC Program Manager, 1 JBER D/C Program Manager, 1 ATP Supervisor, 1 Chief MHRRTP, 1 Chief HCHV, 1 SPC Supervisor, 1 Consult Manager Supervisor and their subordinate social workers. She/he also provides clinical consultation, as needed to 25 Full Performance and Senior SW MSW's in other service lines and at outlying CBOC's. There are 27+ VHA Programs utilizing over 50 or more MSW's in the Alaska VHA. Staff are located at the main facility in Anchorage, at 5 Community Based Outpatient Clinics, and one Domiciliary, located within the Alaska VHA's service territory. She/he has full responsibility for clinical practice, program management, education, MSW internship program, human resource management and supervision, and organizational stewardship for this social work programs line in the Mental Health Service line. The Alaska VHA facility has a variety of clinical programs with a wide range of acute activities providing inpatient (JBER SW D/C planning, BHU collaboration, Community Collaborations) and outpatient services and treatment for patients in general medicine (PACT/PCMHI), medical specialty programs (HEP-C, Transplant, VIS), geriatric and extended care (HBPC, LTC, H/HA, NIC, Respite and Caregiver Support), psychiatry (SMH, RANGE), substance abuse (ATP), palliative care/oncology (CCNT), community care, HCHV, DCHV, Justice Outreach, Grant Per Diem, Suicide Prevention Coordinator, IPV/DV Coordinator, Consult Manager, Transitional Care Management Team and various other ambulatory care programs with related research, educational and program evaluation functions. Education: You must possess a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to the CSWE website to verify if that social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a master of social work. Licensure: You must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the advanced practice level which included an ASWB advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advanced level (except for licenses issued in California, which administers its own clinical examination for advanced practice). May have certification or other post-masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty. Grade Determinations: Supervisory Social Workers at the GS-13 grade level typically supervise a significant number of professional staff at the GS-12 grade, including advanced practice social workers and social worker program coordinators. They are responsible for the professional and administrative management of an area in a social work service, in a care line, or across multiple sites, e.g., multi-division facilities and CBOCs with a large number of supervisors at the GS-12 grade and below. They typically also provide direct clinical services. Preferred Experience: Demonstrate 2-years supervisory social work experience and knowledge in any of these program areas, such as- Extended Care Programs, HUD-VASH Case Management, IP/OP Mental Health, IP Medicine/OP PACT Primary Care; Demonstrate experience and knowledge working with multidisciplinary team members in a fast-paced inpatient and outpatient healthcare setting. Ability to perform supervisory functions in non-traditional work settings. Demonstrates training specific supervisory positions, submit certificates. Experience, Education and Licensure:Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for subordinate staff to qualify for licensure. Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. They may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs below. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. 2. Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. 3. Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers. 4.
