Engineering Associate I – Project Design & Development - Public Works - (5364)
Job Description
Under general direction, the Engineering Associate I will assist the Hydraulic Engineering Section by preparing engineering drawings related to planning, design and construction of wastewater collection systems replacement, renewal and improvement projects.
MAJOR, IMPORTANT, AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Qualifications
** MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
Experience: Four (4) years of verified civil (including structural /or transportation), or electrical, or mechanical technical engineering drafting experience using CAD or BIM systems to prepare engineering drawings and other engineering graphic material, at least two (2) years of which must have been in a position with duties comparable to those of Class 5362 Engineering Assistant.
License and Certification: Possession of a valid California driver license.
Substitution: Additional education with major coursework in Computer Aided Design and Drafting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one (1) year; OR
Possession of a current and valid Autodesk Certified Professional & Expert certificate may be substituted for the two (2) of the four (4) years of verified technical engineering drafting experience above.
Note: One (1) year of full-time employment is considered equivalent to Two Thousand (2,000) hours. Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
Desirable Qualification: The stated desirable qualification may be used to identify candidates advancing to the interview process and/or to identify job finalist(s) at the end of the selection process for hiring.

** SELECTION PROCEDURES**
After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process.

Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (MQSQ)
Candidates may be required to complete an MQSQ as part of the employment application. This MQSQ is designed to obtain specific information regarding an applicant's experience in relation to the Minimum Qualifications (MQ) for this position. The MQSQ will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications.
