    Health Licensing Specialist Government of the District of Columbia 48 reviews - Washington, DC $63,337 - $81,652 a year Duties This position is located in the Department of Health (DOH), Health Regulation and Licensing Administration (HRLA). The incumbent will serve as the Health Licensing Specialist and will be responsible for analyzing licensing procedures for the various boards, recommends revisions and updates to policies and procedures based on experience, new techniques, equipment and court decisions, and makes changes in boards policies and laws. The incumbent reviews and approves licensure applications of health professionals in a timely manner and in accordance with relevant statutes, regulations, board and Department policies, directives and procedures. The incumbent also, withholds licenses of health professionals, who are delinquent in the payment of revenue owed to the District of Columbia. The incumbent places holds on licenses in accordance with the information provided by the Office of Tax and Revenue. The incumbent provides timely professional administrative support to assigned health licensing boards, including but not limited to, the preparation and mailing of meeting agendas, arranging meeting space and necessary equipment, the preparation of minutes of board meetings, and the preparation of correspondence as requested by assigned health licensing board(s) and the Health Regulation and Licensing Administration. The incumbent monitors health professionals disciplined by the Board(s). The incumbent logs and prepares all complaints for the supervisor, attorney(s) and new board reviews. The incumbent reviews the status of all disciplinary actions in the database and collects additional documentation, when needed, to support compliance or non-compliance to Board Orders. The incumbent also, generates necessary correspondence relative to compliance and requirements to be sent to the applicant/licensee. The incumbent updates the Health Regulation and Licensing Administrations computer system to accurately reflect the status of applications and licenses. The incumbent interacts and coordinates with other governmental and private sector individuals and agencies as may be required. The incumbent prepares factual clear and concise written reports to provide statistical information concerning licensure status. The incumbent also, participates in the development and/or update of application and registration forms for the licensure process, incorporating any changes or additions to governing laws, regulations, policies and agency directives, and board input. The incumbent reviews forms from other jurisdictions for comparative information. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Relevant to this job include Thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, policies and procedures of the licensure application process and examination process for health professionals. A working knowledge of the health professional licensing board meetings. Detailed knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations procedures and precedents governing the licensing of health professionals and the operational procedures of the boards. Knowledge of the professional environment of the regulated profession, including professional. Educational and training organization that are concerned with the assigned programs analytical ability. Ability to use personal computers with a particular emphasis on Microsoft (MS) software applications. Ability to work in an environment characterized by stringent timetables is a necessity. Ability to organize work assignments, set priorities and initiate work schedules, as necessary. Ability to work effectively among a wide range of professional and governmental groups; and Demonstrates knowledge of English grammar and composition, highly skilled in written and oral communications, experience in identifying complex interrelationships in accordance with problem resolution, skill in judgment and analysis, and the ability to explain very complex licensure issues clearly. Specialized Experience Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 09 level, or its non-District equivalent. Specialized experience is experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position and has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience may include: performing analytical and/or evaluative requiring sound judgment, discretion, and knowledge of a substantial body of administrative or program principles, concepts, policies and objectives associated with matter such as health licensure procedures, Board educational and/or outreach programs, or related work experience. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensures, Certifications and other requirements None Education Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor degree or a Bachelor of Science degree is preferred. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master Degree in Public Health or related field is preferred. Work Experience Three (3) years of experience is strongly preferred.
