Engineering Inspector Closing Date: 16th of August 2018 Department: Road & Bridge Schedule: 6:30am to 5pm Salary: $17.51 (Grade 21) Duties: Inspects construction work and performs field testing of materials to ensure adherence to proper standards and specifications. Records test data and prepares reports. Collects samples for laboratory testing and transports to laboratory. Coordinates bridge inspections program. Assures that contract work is completed in accordance with plans and specifications. May be responsible for operating the stripe truck (CDL required). Secures deed easements and a agreements if necessary for procuring land by direct negotiation. Under the general direction of the Engineering Supervisor, he/she will be responsible for the coordination of reviewing building permit applications, contractor licensing and compliance with Houston County's flood plain resolution Qualification: High school or Vocational Diploma or G.E.D. certificate, supplemented by course work in trigonometry, algebra and plane geometry, plus two years of experience in surveying, drafting, or construction of roads and bridges, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and three certifications such as Bridge Inspection, Nuclear Gauge Roadway Tech, Concrete. Temporary Traffic Control, QCI or other experience and/or certifications approved by the county engineer. Valid drivers license, may require a Class A CDL.
