Lift Station Mechanic Salary $18.68 - $28.03 Hourly Location Vero Beach, FL Job Type Full Time Department Utilities Job Number 00305 Closing Continuous Description This is routine inspection and mechanical work in the operation and maintenance of lift stations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Supervisor - Utilities Maintenance. Examples of Duties Knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and equipment used in mechanical repair and maintenance work. Knowledge of the hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to mechanical maintenance and repair work. Knowledge of the operation of pumps. Knowledge of electricity as related to electric motors and pumps. Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair telemetry system components. Knowledge of and ability to operate and maintain diesel generators. Ability to inspect machinery and mechanical equipment and to detect apparatus malfunctions. Ability to work on-call with rotation with other mechanics. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions. Must have manual dexterity. Typical Qualifications The required skills would normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or its equivalent, and two years of experience working on electrical control panels, pumps and related apparatus. A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must possess or obtain within first 90 days of employment a valid Florida Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. Wastewater Collection System Operator Certification "B" preferred.
