Job Duties Support data management and analysis activities related to data in the Washington Immunization Information System (WA IIS) and analysis of clinical and regional immunization rates. Help the section transition to the Washington State Disease Reporting System (the Washington State Department of Health's web-based notifiable condition surveillance system) by evaluating data quality and developing surveillance reports and analysis based on data captured in the system. Manage operations and further development and evaluation of the section's syndromic surveillance system. Respond to data requests by creating custom queries, reports, and surveillance summaries using a combination of data visualizations and narratives. In this role, you may also be involved in the following tasks: Design or improve infrastructures, tools, and methodologies for collecting communicable disease and immunizations data. Design and/or develop web-based data collection forms and surveys to support notifiable condition reporting, disease investigations, and outbreak management. Work with developers and stakeholders to design and test modifications to surveillance databases to support disease investigations and control. Develop documentation and training materials for data collection tools, databases, and systems. Analyze, report on, and interpret communicable disease and immunizations data. Conduct epidemiological and statistical analysis using local, state, and federal databases to support disease investigations and determine trends, incidence and prevalence of communicable disease and immunization topics. Develop geographic analysis to support surveillance of communicable disease and immunizations data. Conduct or assist with program evaluation. Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Background and experience in public health informatics, epidemiology, or biostatistics (equivalent to a Master's degree). 1+ years of experience conducting disease surveillance in a public health practice setting (e.g., local/state health department, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, etc.). 1+ years of experience designing surveys or data collection forms. 1+ years of experience designing or contributing to the modification of surveillance databases. 1+ years of experience conducting quantitative analyses of large, complex datasets. 1+ years of experience reporting on surveillance data by creating surveillance summaries, outbreak summaries, and annual reports. 1+ years of experience conducting data quality assurance.
