    Job Description

    DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE POSITION This position will be the lead system administrator for the Lane Radio Interoperability Group (LRIG) trunked radio system master site.  LRIG is comprised of multiple Lane County public safety agencies who share the local region’s trunked radio network.  This position will also provide back-up to the department’s senior radio network coordinator which will require technical radio infrastructure knowledge and could include site troubleshooting and maintenance (both trunked and conventional assets), portable and vehicle radio installation/repair and emergency response to radio outages including during times of disaster such as wildfires, floods and storms.     The Sheriff’s Office provides an array of correctional services including a jail, a community corrections center (work-release), and out-of-custody programs such as community service and an inmate work crew.

    SCHEDULE: Must be available to work all days and shifts including, but not limited to: evenings, weekends, and holidays.  This is a Lane Co Peace Officers' Association represented positionQUALIFICATIONS

    TRAINING: A two year technical or associate degree in a radio or computer science field, or comparable course work.

    EXPERIENCE: Three years of technical support for radios and radio communication equipment and computers as related to a communications network.

    AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING THAT WILL DEMONSTRATE THE REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES IS QUALIFYING.

    SPECIAL CERTIFICATION AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

    This position requires a criminal background investigation and, as a condition of employment, certification to have and be able to maintain access to the Area Information Records System (AIRS) and/or the Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS).

    Must possess by time of appointment at least one of the following licenses: FCC commercial radio, amateur “tech-plus�, amateur general, amateur extra or NABER radio certification.

    May require certification to perform data telecommunications installations/cabling.

If fingerprinting is required, the fee is paid for by the successful candidate and the expense is non-reimbursable.
