    Department Specialist - Benefits Planning Division - Department of Human Services Job ID 2018-3295 Position Type Full Time - Regular Hiring Pay/Range $16.07 Closing Date 1/6/2019 Department Human Services Reporting Location : Location US-CO-Fort Collins Overview Larimer County Department of Human Services is looking for a skilled individual to join our team as a Department Specialist. The Department of Human Services provides services which assist individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency and social well being. Services can include financial assistance for shelter, food and medical care. Services are provided either directly by department personnel, and/or through collaborations or contracts with other community agencies. Details The department of Human Services takes leadership in community efforts to assess human service needs, plan for more effective and efficient human services delivery, and address emerging community needs. Human Services works closely with the other County Departments in the Health and Human Services Division to develop, coordinate, and evaluate the total package of human services provided by Larimer County. The Department Specialist performs administrative work in support of the processing functions of both the Fort Collins and Loveland offices for the Benefits and Community Support Division of the Department of Human Services. This position will be located primarily in the Fort Collins Office located at 1501 Blue Spruce Drive. Main duties will include providing customer service and assisting applicants who are applying for assistance programs at the front desk . Specifically this position: Performs customer service duties for the department on a regular basis; interprets County/departmental polices, rules, and regulations in response to inquiries; conducts necessary research; routes inquiries appropriately for more complex matters and interpretation issues. Accepts and processes plans, forms, reports, legal documents, applications, or similar materials in accordance with legal and procedural requirements. Composes and prepares replies to a variety of communications when information is factual in nature or involves matters of established policies, procedures, or standard practices. Schedules work orders, service calls, and other activities for departmental employees. Maintains activity and work logs. Calculates, collects, and processes application, service, filing, and work order fees. Maintains records and may reconcile related accounts. May assist with training of new hires, temporary workers, and other department/division administrative employees. For the full Job Description for this position, click here. Qualifications: High School diploma or GED, required, supplemented by additional secretarial or office administration coursework. Two years of experience in a directly related clerical or secretarial field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities. An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked.
