Records Technicians have a special role at the Sheriff's Office and are essential to the daily operations. Specifically, a Sheriff Records Technician: Processes, files, and maintains records, reports and materials. Performs clerical tasks; types case reports from dictation, proofs and reviews hard copy reports. Performs data entry; updates, researches, stores, and retrieves documents and data; maintains records and files. Assists department personnel and the public by performing record checks, releasing police reports, and mailing out requested reports to outside agencies and insurance companies in accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA)/Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act (CCJRA) and provides general information regarding department policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintains accuracy, confidentiality, and security of all records and work area. Works with sworn staff to validate and finalize reports to meet local, state and federal crime reporting requirements. Exercises good organizational skills while demonstrating the ability to be detail-oriented in carrying out assigned tasks. Processes traffic reports; verifies receipt of funds; distributes reports by mail or counter.
