    Intern, Advisory Groups Salary $2,600.00 Monthly Location Los Angeles, CA Job Type Intern Department Policy & Systems Job Number PPD002 Job Summary Under the direction of the Advisory Group Coordinator, in the Policy and Systems Department, the Advisory Group Intern will assist the Advisory Group Coordinator in planning and coordinating for the Lived Experience Groups. The Lived Experience Groups of LAHSA are vital to the work that LAHSA and other organizations are doing to end homelessness. They partner with different departments and agencies to build meaningful partnerships between the community and those who serve it. Essential Job Functions Outreach and Marketing for the Advisory Groups Assist in engagement with the Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and/or LinkedIn Community; Work with the Communications Department Specialist to update social media website daily with up to date information surrounding the Groups and other important news and updates; and, Assist with promoting the Groups events, printing of flyers, and newsletters to be placed on community organizations and college campuses. Advisory Group Planning Activities Support Advisory Group Coordinator with daily tasks that require attention, i.e. supply and resource preparation, assist in communicating with community partners; Assist in engaging new including community organizations, educational institutions, local businesses, law enforcement, elected officials, etc.; Aid in the development and coordination of documents and materials, including flyers, agendas, training presentations, and other tools; Help with coordinating volunteers and facilitating sponsors; Assist in maintaining and organizing documents for each group; Assist in, and preparation for the Group meetings; Co-facilitate advisory groups alongside Coordinator; Assist with coordination (with internal and external community partners) of scheduling attendance to group meetings in conjunction with agenda preparation. Enter data from hard copies of notes and sign-in sheets etc. to digital copies Administrative Duties Assist with preparation of presentations and other meetings, as needed; Assist in taking notes and summarizing the results of meetings; Assist with other Policy and Systems Department duties and projects assigned by the coordinator; Aid in the development and coordination of documents and materials, including outreach flyers, training presentations, the social media campaigns, and other tools Basic general duties (filing, sorting, photocopying, phone calls); Support with daily task that require attention, i.e. supply and resource preparation; Attend and participate in weekly team check-ins as required; Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficient in MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel Able to perform basic data management and calculations using MS Excel Able to create and edit tables and forms on MS Word Experience using electronic survey tools (e.g. Survey Monkey, Qualtrics) Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills Ability to work independently, be proactive, and exercise good judgment Excellent time management and organization skills Familiarity with social media, especially Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat etc. Strong attention to detail Training & Experience A high school degree is required; current enrollment in community college or undergraduate studies is preferred. Experience in community organizing, event planning, and/or working with diverse and vulnerable populations. Familiarity with youth homelessness, and with non-profit organizations, county agencies, educational and vocational programs, and others serving homeless youth highly desired.
