JOB DESCRIPTION Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is offering collaborative, detail-oriented candidates the opportunity to become a substitute Library Assistant at various library branches. As a member of an enthusiastic team, Library Assistants provide direct customer service in reference, readers advisory and circulation functions, as well as assist customers in the use of library resources and technologies. Library Assistants work in a collaborative environment with other staff to complete daily tasks and serve customers. Successful candidates will be passionate, creative team players with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills Must possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills. LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week including Friday and Saturday evening. Work schedules vary and substitute employees have the opportunity to set their own schedule by choosing from an online selection of shifts. Work hours are subject to availability and shifts are filled on a first come, first served basis. JOB REQUIREMENTS Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree One (1) year prior experience providing direct customer service to the public strongly preferred Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Requires ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 200 pounds Constant bending, reaching, walking and standing required Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred POST CONDITIONAL OFFER CONTINGENCIES Successful candidate will undergo a criminal background check.
