Community Outreach Intern Metropolitan Transportation Authority 158 reviews - Manhattan, NY Part-time, Temporary, Internship The Community Outreach Intern will assist the Second Avenue Subway (SAS) project with community outreach initiatives at MTACC's Second Avenue Subway Community Information Center (CIC) located at 125th Street and 2nd Avenue by providing information and guidance to those community residents affected by the SAS construction project. The Intern will also help organize outreach programs and activities in this unprecedented community outreach center. The Second Avenue Subway line will reduce overcrowding and delays on the Lexington Avenue line, improving travel for both city and suburban commuters, and provide better access to mass transit for residents of the far East Side of Manhattan. Responsibilities Greet visitors as they enter the CIC and answer general inquiries from community residents who visit. Guide community members to available resources. Chanel public concerns to the appropriate contacts. Help organize outreach activities at the CIC. Qualifications Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to speak to people effectively and comfortably in public forums are required. Familiarity with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook is required. Experience with basic publishing software is a plus. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus. Education and Experience Internship participants must be current undergraduate or graduate students in an accredited college or university.
