    Trails Coordinator -Position Type:Full-time, Salary -Department:Parks -Compensation Range:$50,495.21 - $58,826.49 -Closing Date:August 16, 2018 @ 5:59pm CST -Job Summary Responsible for management of the trail system, both hard and soft surface, with multiple user types; provides field supervision in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of trails; collaborates with partners involved in trails; administers the Milwaukee County Trails Network Plan and other trail policies; preserves and enhances department assets; and ensures quality service and product delivery. Job Responsibilities -Trail Oversight - Conducts periodic surveys of Milwaukee County Trails for vegetation clearance, adequate sight-lines, surface conditions, and drainage. Understands and implements sustainable trail practices. Installs and maintains trail signs and other wayfinding means. -Education and Outreach - Represent Parks at the City of Milwaukee Bike & Pedestrian Task Force. Lead and administer the Milwaukee County Trails Council. Maintain and update sign plans and kiosks. Conduct educational and informational presentations on community outreach, event development, and volunteer supervision. -Training and Coordination - Train, coordinate, and oversee employees/volunteers in their roles as they relate to the Parks Trails Network and sustainable soft trail design/development. Work with other goverment entities in the County, SE Wisconsin and State of WI. Develop Adopt-a-Trail Program. -Planning and Technical Support - Review plans/drawings for trail development or reconstruction. Assist in trail construction review (punch list and quality control). Assist with the Planning department to develop periodic audits, make recommendations for replacement or resurfacing. Develop plan and procedures. -Trail Maintenance - Maintenance of both hard and soft surface trails. Supervises and participates in trail maintenance and the construction of soft trails. Maintains the department's equipment cache in good repair. -Administration - Request utility hotlines. Record and maintain work progress, survey results, and map information. Maintain email and phone correspondence. Submit various reports and documentation. Supports internal and external partnerships. Order materials and supplies. -Data Collection and Grant Writing - Collects user data by means of trail counts and user surveys. Gathers GPS/GIS information to develop maps using ArcGIS. Update trail maps. Utilizes data and information to develop reports and apply for grants that support the trail systems. -Special Assignments and Projects - Participate on special project teams and community outreach efforts. -Ability to safely and properly operate county vehicles, motorized equipment, power tools, hand tools, PCs and general office equipment. -Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. -Other duties as assigned. -Minimum Qualifications -Required Education, License/Certification and Experience -Bachelors degree or higher in Geography, Land Management, Natural Sciences or closely related field required -One (1) year or more work experience in Landscaping or Trail Construction required -Previous Supervisory or Management work experience required -Valid State of Wisconsin Drivers License required and must be maintained throughout incumbency -First Aid certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire -CPR certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire -Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire -DATCP Pesticide Applicators License 6.0 required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire PG24 Org:9000 RV -Special Instructions:This Original Examination is open to Wisconsin residents.
