Human Services Worker - Youth and Family Svs -Position Type:Full- Time, Hourly Rate -Department:Department of Health and Human Services - Juvenile Justice (Watertown Plank Location) -Compensation Range:$41,213.07 - $56,612.81 Annually -Closing Date:10/17/2018 @ 5:59 p.m. CST -Under general direction, this position will conduct intakes and assessments of youth alleged to have committed delinquent acts and provide necessary supervision and case management. Job Duties: -Conduct home visits to take inquiries and interview youth and family members. -Implement appropriate intervention strategies. -Prepare written court reports and oral testimony for Childrens Court appearances. -Maintain current documentation on case assignments. -Accept youth from law enforcement and other agencies. -Perform various assessment/screening tasks to determine level of risk and necessity for continued custodial care. -Responsible for implementing both Departmental and Judicial Intake Policies. -Perform data entry, queries, and review of information contained in various information systems. -Respond to appropriate requests for information. -Monitor compliance of youth through report review, field observation, services monitoring, and information gathering. -Perform other duties as assigned. -Minimum Qualifications -Current resident of the state of Wisconsin -Possession of a Valid Wisconsin drivers license with access to an insured and reliable vehicle; both maintained throughout employment -Possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university is required. A major in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Social Work or a closely related field is highly preferred -At least one (1) year working directly withYOUTH (under 18 years of age)case management or direct service experience either in a public or private youth agency setting is required -Hold a current State Intake Training Certification or can obtain one within the first year of appointment to the position is required -Ability to travel to within the community approximately 45% of work time Preferred Qualifications: -Experience working with juvenile justice or child welfare systems as well as an understanding of basic court functions and procedures -Experience coordinating community resource services for youth and their families -Experience working with Chapter 48, 51, and 938 of the Wisconsin Juvenile and Childrens Code including application -Experience working with law enforcement entities and social services agencies Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of social work principles and practices, youth and family development, and family system theory; knowledge of the juvenile justice and child welfare systems as well as understanding of basic court functions and procedures; knowledge of case management/assessment techniques, mandatory reporter requirements, community resources, and services available; skilled in the use of computers; ability to understand Chapters 48, 51 and 938 of the Wisconsin Juvenile and Childrens Code including application; ability to organize tasks in an efficient manner, follow established policies and procedures, communicate effectively both orally and written form; ability to follow both verbal and written instructions, work both independently and within a team to accomplish immediate tasks, work effectively with both with internal and external consumers.
