    Clerical Assistant 1 -Position Type: Full - Time, Hourly -Department: Child Support -Compensation Range: $14.32 - $18.13 Per Hour ($29,801.11 - $37,719.17) -Closing Date: December 31, 2018 @ 5:59 PM or upon receipt of 100 application submissions. -Job Summary: The Clerical Assistant 1 provides essential clerical duties and mailroom functions to support the department. The clerical assistant will receive, open, sort, date stamp and deliver mail to staff in all divisions of the department within necessary time frames. This position is responsible for logging all certified mail and ensuring that all faxed communications are sorted and delivered. Additional duties include data entry, cashiering, clerical and front desk reception. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Mailroom/MailDelivery.Processes high volume of daily outbound mail including time sensitive legal documents and correspondences. Performs mail runs three (3) times a day. Maintains regularly scheduled correspondences and mail pickup from three floors within the department. -Data Entry/Clerical.High volumes of routine data entry from information obtained through postmaster verification letters, utilizing specialized data bases. Processes undeliverable mail that is returned by the post office. Updates participants demographic information into the KIDS database and other new information as needed. -Front Desk Receptionist and Cashier.Assists visitors to generate and explain routine payment histories. Refers in-depth inquiries to Case Managers, Paralegals, Enforcement and Legal Staff. Verifies completeness of motion papers and other legal documents presented by general public. Maintains waiting room area and replenishes form supplies. -Performs all other duties as needed and assigned. -Minimum Qualifications -Minimum Education & Years of Experience Required: -Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. -Current resident of the State of Wisconsin -Six (6) months cash handling experience -One (1) year customer service and data entry experience -Two (2) years experience with office clerical and high volume of mail handling -Basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications specifically Microsoft Word and Excel -The ability to push/pull a minimum of 25 pounds on a regular bases Preferred Qualifications & Experience: -Two or more years retail cash handling experience -KIDS software experience -Bilingual (Spanish) experience with the ability to speak and write English to Spanish and Spanish to English -Experience working with distressed and highly emotional individuals in person and over the phone Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor. Regular direct contact with distressed individuals. High volume of variable work demands and deadlines which may impose strain on a routine basis or considerable stress intermittently. Contact with employees or others primarily at routine levels involving basic information exchanges. Contact with peers, internal and external contacts involving explanation of factual information and communications of sensitive or confidential information. Frequent external contact to gather information and answer inquires. Reading, writing and the comprehension of simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. -Special Instructions:This Original Examination is open to current residents of the state of Wisconsin.
