This Correctional Specialist IV position is located at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility (MCCF) in Boyds, MD. The selected applicant will be responsible for managing daily Inmate Services operations within the secure facility to include supervising subordinate case management staff and co-managing housing units with Custody and Security supervisors. This position provides a high level of professional and technical assistance to the Warden and Deputy Wardens of the Division and assignments may include direct management of Inmate Intake and Classification, Special Management Housing, Inmate Work Board, and Cognitive Behavioral Programs for specialized populations to include women and youthful offenders. The employee will also serve as Chair for inmate administrative disciplinary hearings and provide periodic coverage of case management services as needed. The employee may also participate with inter-agency committees, facilitates facility tours and other public relations, and assist with special projects as assigned. This position requires designing, implementing, altering or eliminating programs and or services based on ever-changing situations and needs. The employee will routinely examine new programs and available technology necessary to meet the complex needs of the inmate population in order to support the Department's endeavor to facilitate the inmates' successful reentry into the community. There are three CSIV positions and one CSV position within the Division who report to the Deputy Warden of Inmate Services. The CSIV position is part of the MCCF Management Team and also part of the Senior Management Team within the Department. This is a non-represented position. Employees in this classification are considered essential staff and will be required to be at work during weather related events or general emergencies. Scheduled hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. Minimum Qualifications Experience: Three (3) years of experience in community based corrections or in other human services work emphasizing treatment/counseling, at least two of which must be equivalent to that of a Correctional Specialist II. Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Equivalency: Excess education may be substituted for required experience, but excess experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree, as the educational requirement is stipulated by the Maryland State Training Commission. Employees meeting minimum qualifications who are the same grade will be placed on Eligible List as a "Lateral Transfer" candidate and may be considered for interview. Note: In the event there are 10 or fewer minimally qualified candidates, all will be placed on the Eligible List as Qualified and Hiring Managers will be required to interview a minimum of five candidates.
