Duties include invasive species removal, tree thinning, prescribed burning, equipment maintenance, record keeping (ArcGis, Excel, Word), and GPS mapping. There may also be the opportunity to do seed harvesting, processing and planting for prairie restorations, and tree planting for a oak savanna restoration. Location: Battle Creek/Ponca Nebraska This is a seasonal, temporary, full time position that is tentatively scheduled to last from date of hire until 12/20/2019 Examples of Work Conduct ecological management of high-quality Missouri River bluff forests. Qualifications / Requirements REQUIREMENTS: 12 semester hours or the equivalent of post high school coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources and/or biology OR 6 months experience in wildlife/recreation or fisheries management. Valid driver's license required. PREFERRED: Applicants with Pesticide Applicators license and Class A CDL license with O endorsement Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of and ability to operate ATVs and UTVs, chainsaws, sprayers, and other equipment, and GPS. Ability to identify deciduous woodland tree and shrub and other plant species, tallgrass prairie plant species, and invasive plants.
