    Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Content Writer in our Marketing department, reporting directly the Director of Marketing.

    The position can reside in the Dallas, Houston, New York, Philadelphia, or Washington, DC office and will be responsible for ensuring that the firm’s content supports its brand principle of excellence and provides value in our interactions with prospects and clients.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

    • Project manage the development and delivery of various pieces of content. Tasks will include:
      • Developing and approving production schedules.
      • Writing and copy-editing text.
      • Collaborating with the BD team.
      • Approving changes with authors.
      • Working with Document Services on proofing.
      • Finalizing pieces and having them saved to the proper locations.
    • Write, review, and/or edit external marketing materials ensuring consistent tone, style and readability, including but not limited to web content, lawyer and advisor biographies, practice and industry descriptions, brochures and more. Ensure the content complies with the Firm’s brand messaging, tone of voice and editorial guidelines.
    • Provide day-to-day editorial support to the marketing and business development team by advising on structure, tone and style so that materials are compelling to business people, not just lawyers.
    • Ensure that editorial content supports business and marketing goals.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • At least five years’ writing experience in a law firm; in a communications role in a law school or general counsel’s office; or as a journalist covering legal topics is necessary
    • JD strongly preferred, Journalism degree a plus
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
    • The ability to write in the firm’s brand tone and align content with its overall marketing and business development strategy
    • Detail-oriented
    • Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment; handle several projects at once with competing deadlines
    • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
    • Openness to being copyedited by others including lawyers, business development staff and our external brand and public relations advisors
    • Calm demeanor and positive attitude when tasks must be completed under time pressure
    • Poise and professionalism when interacting with internal and external contacts
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint
    • Strong work ethic; commitment to the firm, your colleagues, professional growth and development
    • Writing samples required

    The General Counsel’s Office is seeking a highly motivated and reliable individual to fill a part-time Law Clerk position.  Selected individual may work for up to twenty hours weekly during the school year and during school breaks at the option of the work unit. Total scheduled yearly hours will not exceed 1,250 hours. Duration of opportunity at a minimum is three months may be extended up to one year. Duties include but are not limited to para-professional level work specific to the department's needs. Law Clerks are required to complete work semi-independently, exercise initiative and apply education, skills and systematically approach assignments. Typical assignments may include:

     

    1. Conducting legal research and drafting legal documents including pleadings, legal memoranda, policies, and codes.
    2. Researching legal issues and drafting memoranda of law based on the legal research; preparing discovery responses and documents. 
    3. Assisting with responses to public records requests; supporting the functioning of the airport law office; developing relationships with Airport Authority staff; completing projects or acting as part of a project team; and
    4. Developing an understanding of and practical experience in the legal representation of a government entity and a public commercial airport.
