    EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Non-exempt

    DEPARTMENT: Nutrition

    JOB CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full-time

    REPORTS TO: Food Services Supervisor

    WORKING HOURS: Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm

    SUPERVISES: None

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

    This position requires assisting in all aspects of the nutrition and food program particularly relating to loading/delivering of food and supplies.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Loads and delivers food and non-food items to Head Start centers.

    Assists Cook in meal packing in accordance with schedules and procedures for transportation.

    Requires distributing classroom requisitions for supplies.

    Assists in light hot/cold food preparation (i.e., peeling potatoes, cutting carrots, preparing breakfast food, etc.).

    Assists in receiving, storing, dating, and rotating stock inventory.

    Helps teaching staff, when available, in food service for children at assigned Head Start centers and records food temperatures as needed.

    Cleans kitchen as needed by following the cleaning schedule, by sweeping, mopping, and assists in dishwashing duties.

    Participates in staff training and/or workshops.

    Runs errands for Head Start operations and is responsible for all transportation needs.

    Maintains compliance with applicable local, state, and federal sanitation regulations for food service operations.

    Maintains assigned agency vehicle(s) using checklist.

    Carries trash outside to dumpster as needed and scheduled.

    Cleans and sanitize kitchen (i.e., building, windows, restrooms, break room, and equipment).

    Reports safety or hazardous situations to immediate supervisor.

    Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or Nutrition Coordinator.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience:

    Requires High School diploma or GED and

    One (1) year of experience in delivery route.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Demonstrates ability to read and write, keeps routine records, follows written and oral instructions, and files alphabetically and numerically.

    Makes judgments or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria--relies on one or more of the five physical senses.

    Deals with people beyond giving and receiving instructions--is courteous, cooperative, conscientious, and tactful in dealing with employees and the general public.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    Must successfully complete and maintain the following permits, and certifications:

    Food Handlers Permit; will need to be renewed yearly by expiration.

    First Aid certification; will need to be renewed every two (2) years by expiration date.

    CPR Infant/Toddler certification; will need to be renewed every two (2) years by expiration date.

    Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.

    Must successfully pass and submit a pre-employment TB test and must successfully pass and submit a TB test annually thereafter.

    Must successfully pass and submit a post offer physical examination within two weeks from the date of hire.

    Must possess a valid Texas Driver's license (Operators-Class C) and driving record must be approved by insurance company on an annual basis.

    Must have transportation and current liability coverage on vehicle to be used in the performance of job duties. Some out-of-town travel may be required.

    Proof of work eligibility must be provided.

    Dress in appropriate dress attire (clothes/shoes) and with a neat personal appearance (well groomed).

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Normal physical activity includes occasional sitting, frequent standing, and walking in a usual workday.

    Requires occasional pulling out and pushing in of drawers and other objects with occasional bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, and reaching above shoulder level.

    Requires occasional lifting and carrying of boxes of supplies, at minimum, 30 lbs.

    Requires use of the five senses (hearing, seeing, touching, smelling, and tasting) to perform various job duties and in dealing with staff, clients, and outside.

    Requires employee to use hands, arms, feet, legs, neck, and head while performing Agency tasks.

    Requires employee to occasionally crawl and twist in performing duties.

    Requires frequent speaking and listening abilities with staff, co-workers, parents, supervisor, and parents/volunteers--must be able to hear a child cry out when in pain, injured, or ill.
