    EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Non-exempt

    DEPARTMENT: Nutrition

    JOB CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full-time

    REPORTS TO: Food Services Supervisor

    WORKING HOURS: Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm

    SUPERVISES: None

    LOCATION: Kids of the Neighborhood HS, 119 Clemmer, Corpus Christi

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    This position requires assisting in all aspects of the nutrition and food program particularly relating to loading/delivering of food and supplies.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    Loads and delivers food and non-food items to Head Start centers.

    Assists Cook in meal packing in accordance with schedules and procedures for transportation.

    Requires distributing classroom requisitions for supplies.

    Assists in light hot/cold food preparation (i.e., peeling potatoes, cutting carrots, preparing breakfast food, etc.).

    Assists in receiving, storing, dating, and rotating stock inventory.

    Assists in dishwashing duties.

    Helps teaching staff, when available, in food service for children at assigned Head Start centers and records food temperatures as needed.

    Cleans kitchen following food preparation by sweeping & mopping the floor.

    Participates in staff training and/or workshops.

    Runs errands for Head Start operations, and is responsible for all transportation needs.

    Maintains compliance with applicable local, state, and federal sanitation regulations for food service operations.

    Maintains assigned agency vehicle(s) using checklist.

    Carries trash outside to dumpster.

    Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or Food Services Coordinator.

    NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    Cleans kitchen-building windows occasionally.

    Sweeps/mops garage area occasionally.

    Reports safety or hazardous situations to immediate supervisor.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    Normal physical activity includes occasional sitting and frequent standing and walking in a usual workday.

    Requires employee to lift and carry heavy objects such as boxes of supplies and equipment.

    Requires employee to use hands, arms, feet, legs, neck and head while performing various Agency tasks.

    Requires use of the five senses (hearing, seeing, touching, smelling, and tasting) to perform various job duties.

    Requires loading and delivering food and non-food items to Head Start classrooms by lifting and carrying heavy boxes of food and paper items.

    Requires occasionally carrying, lifting, pulling, pushing, and dragging heavy loads of food and non-food items to Head Start centers using a caddy with occasional bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level.

    Requires occasional climbing of a ladder, footstool to store inventory and occasional reaching above shoulder level for inventory.

    Requires speaking/hearing abilities with supervisor, cooks, teachers/assistant teachers, and children.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    High School diploma or GED preferred and one year of experience in delivery route.

    Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.

    Must be able to lift, at minimum, 30 lbs.

    Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Texas Driver’s License (Op-Class C) and is subject to review and approval by the Agency and insurance company on driver record.

    Must successfully complete and maintain the following:

    Food Handler’s permit, renewable every 2 years by expiration date

    First Aid certification, renewable every 2 years by the expiration date

    CPR Infant/Child certification; renewable every 2 years by the expiration date

    Dresses in appropriate attire with a neat personal appearance.

    Proof of work eligibility must be provided.
