Fall 2018 Outreach Intern NYC Department of Investigation - New York, NY Part-time, Internship The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country with a mission of combating municipal corruption. It serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent and nonpartisan watchdog for New York City government, City agencies, and City employees, vendors with City contracts, individuals and entities that receive City funds. Interns play a vital role in the ongoing operation of the New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) and can expect to gain a great deal of experience in the operation of an anti-corruption agency. Like many government agencies, DOI actively engages with the public, and has an active communications department which interacts with the media and the public on a daily basis. An outreach intern can expect to take on a variety of assignments, including research, fact-checking, writing copy, assisting in the creation of multimedia, helping facilitate the internship program and enhancing the agencys web and social media presence. Attributes of a successful communications intern include: * The ability to take direction and function as part of a team. * Excellent written and verbal skills and an ability to think visually. * Experience/courses in communications, media, marketing or related fields. * Experience/comfort in creating and publishing content for the web and social media. * A passion for law enforcement and good government. * Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition, Illustrator) * Experience in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Publisher) Interns must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
