Walton Beach, FL Job Type Full-Time Department Water amp; Sewer (4101) Job Number 19-007 Closing Continuous * Description * Benefits * Questions GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge and effluent. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Monitors, adjusts and records data from gauges, meters, control panel and equipment to ensure proper biological and chemical treatment, pressures and flow rates. Extracts samples and performs laboratory tests and analyses to monitor and detect pH, dissolved oxygen levels, acids, caustic soda, chlorine residuals, minerals, conductivity. Enters all shift data into the computer system and on data sheets. Keeps written logs pertaining to plant operation and customer problems or complaints. Consults with prior and subsequent shift workers to ascertain any operating problems and to provide information on facility status. Responds to customer inquiries and complaints, providing information or referral. Inspects, cleans and monitors the functioning of mechanical equipment, and performs troubleshooting on process equipment. Assists the Maintenance Supervisor with repairs of plant equipment. Controls transfer and volume of waste from various tanks. Replaces chlorine cylinders and regulates flow rates. Performs general facility maintenance duties. Must be able to meet work schedule and attendance standards. Performs related duties as required. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED; Class quot;Aquot; Commercial Driver License is preferred. Requires a valid driver license. Apprentice: Work experience that demonstrates mechanical aptitude is preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must obtain a Class 'C' Wastewater Operator certificate issued by the State of Florida within 24 months of hire. Salary Range: Apprentice ($10.93 - $14.11)Hourly Class C: Possession of a Class 'C' Wastewater Operator certificate issued by the State of Florida; one (1) year experience with wastewater operations. Salary Range: Class C ($14.81 - $19.26)Hourly Class B: Possession of a Class quot;Bquot; Wastewater Operator certificate issued by the State of Florida; three (3) years experience with wastewater operations. Salary Range: Class B ($15.75 - $20.51)Hourly Class A: Possession of a Class quot;Aquot; Wastewater Operator certificate issued by the State of Florida; five (5) years experience in wastewater operations. Must be computer literate. Salary Range: Class A ($18.98 - 24.81)Hourly MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of hand held and electrical equipment and tools. Must be able to exert over 100 pounds of force occasionally, 20 to 100 pounds of force frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Life Insurance - The BCC provides $25,000 of basic life and accidental death and dismemberment (ADD) insurance for each employee. Employees may purchase optional group term life insurance in $25,000 increments up to a maximum of $500,000. Long Term Disability BCC provides a long-term disability for all full-time employees. Has a six-month waiting period from date of incident, and then receives 50% of salary up to five years. Employee may buy up an additional 10%. Dental Insurance is provided at no cost to employee; family coverage is available for a reasonable rate. Section 125 Plan (Flexible Spending Plan) - Allows employees to pre-tax certain insurance costs; unreimbursed medical; and dependent care expenses. Florida Retirement System (FRS) The County pays a percent of the employees salary into the FRS. Holidays /Annual and Sick Leave Accruals - The County offers 10 paid holidays and annual and sick leave accrual. Bereavement Leave - In the event of death in an employees immediate family (as defined in the Human Resources policy), he/she may be granted bereavement leave with pay for up to a maximum of twenty-four hours (24) hours. Deferred Compensation Savings is offered to all full-time employees through payroll deduction.
