Orange County Corrections, Inmate Administration Division is comprised of several units that include Classification Services, Inmate Affairs, Inmate Records Management and Pretrial Services. These units perform a variety of support functions for the Orange County Jail. This position is responsible for processing and maintaining a variety of documents related to the intake, confinement and release of inmates that are incarcerated in the Orange County Correctional Facility. Responsibilities include updating all information that is received from the court and other criminal justice agencies in the computer case management system; obtaining criminal history/warrant information and processing inmates for release from the corrections facility. Representative Duties * Receives and notarizes incoming law enforcement arrest affidavits and other documents related to the intake of an inmate into the Orange County Correctional Facility. * Processes a variety of documents required for the release of inmates and ensures inmates are released in accordance with those documents. * Reviews arrest paperwork and court documents for accuracy and completeness. * Disseminates inmate information to various parts of the criminal justice system. * Communicates information to the public, court, and various agencies to confirm information and assist in the resolution of issues regarding inmate case status and court documentation. * Enters and updates inmate information in the automated corrections management system. * Provides information to various agencies via Teletype. * Obtains and reviews inmate criminal history information using Florida Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center (FCIC/NCIC). * Performs other related duties as assigned. Specific Duties Based on Area of Assignment Inmate Records Management * Notarizes law enforcement arrest affidavits. * Processes cash and surety bonds to facilitate inmate release. * Ensures inmates are released in accordance with the conditions set forth in court documents. * Responds to public records requests and completes records redactions. * Schedules inmates to attend First Appearance Court. Pretrial Services * Works with the Clerk of Court and the Judiciary during First Appearance Court to record and document court proceedings. * Receives and processes Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) information. * Provides court information and release conditions to victims. Classification * Processes initial receipt, review and data entry of sentencing orders. * Performs calculations of release dates. Conducts release authorization for inmates sentenced to short length sentences; assigns sentence calculation for longer length sentences to certified staff. * Conducts criminal history inquiries to provide information regarding inmate history in order to facilitate appropriate inmate housing. Reviews and responds to inmate requests and responds to general inquiries to the unit from internal/external sources. Minimum Qualifications Associates Degree from an accredited institution and three years of Customer Service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain Florida Crime Information Center/ National Crime Information Center (FCIC/NCIC) certification within three months of employment. Required to possess and maintain Florida Notary Public certification within three months of employment. Preferences Criminal Justice, Public Administration or Social Service experience Notes Selected applicant may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Pre-Trial Services and Inmate Records Departments are 24/7 operations. These are uniformed positions and candidates must comply with all Corrections dress code standards, including tattoos must be covered by the uniform and/or clothing.
