    YOUR ROLE AT PFH:

    As a Domestic Violence Advocate you will be responsible for direct and supportive care to survivors in shelter or outreach; providing monitoring, crisis intervention, supervision, safety and facilitation of educational/ support groups. You will: Facilitate Psycho-educational groups and classes as needed.

    • INTERVIEW POTENTIAL VOLUNTEER CANDIDATES FOR SART/DVRT AND RESPOND TO ALL INTERESTED INQUIRIES.
    • ORGANIZE TRAINING CLASSES, 40 HOURS OF REQUIRED TRAINING, FOR NEW VOLUNTEERS FOR SART/DVRT
    • SCHEDULE SART/DVRT VOLUNTEERS FOR MONTHLY SHIFTS.
    • FACILITATE VARIOUS PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL GROUPS.
    • MAINTAIN DOCUMENTATION FOR ALL SERVICES PROVIDED, TURNING IN MONTHLY REPORTS TO THE DESIGNEE.  
    • MAINTAIN AN UP-TO-DATE REFERRAL AND RESOURCE MANUAL THAT WOULD INCLUDE INFORMATION REGARDING HOUSING, ECONOMIC ASSISTANCE, LEGAL, MEDICAL, AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES THAT WOULD BENEFIT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS.  
    • PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO ALL CLIENTS AS THEY ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THE PRACTICAL PROBLEMS OF LIVING THAT HAVE RESULTED FROM ABUSE:  HOUSING DILEMMAS, ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTY, EMPLOYMENT, CHILD CARE, ETC.  
    • WORK WITH ALL INDIVIDUALS WHO CONTACT THE HOTLINE OR ENTER SHELTER OR OUTREACH, TO CREATE A VIABLE SAFETY PLAN. 
    • MAKE FOLLOW-UP PHONE CALLS TO SART/DVRT CLIENTS AND SEXUAL ASSAULT HOTLINE CALLS.

    WE THINK YOU'D BE GREAT FOR THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE:

    • MUST BE WILLING TO BECOME SART/DVRT CERTIFIED WITHIN SIXTY DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT;  OR
    • ASSOCIATE DEGREE AND ONE YEAR EXPERIENCE IN HUMAN SERVICES FIELD; OR
    • THREE YEARS EXPERIENCE PROVIDING CASE MANAGEMENT AND ADVOCACY PERTAINING TO RESOURCE ACQUISITION IN A HUMAN SERVICE ORGANIZATION;  OR
    • A SURVIVOR OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE WHO HAS DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE AND/OR EXPERIENCE WORKING IN THE FIELD OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND TWO YEARS EXPERIENCE IN A HUMAN SERVICES ORGANIZATION.
    • DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO OPERATE A COMPUTER AND USE GOOGLE APPLICATIONS.
