Job Description
Position Summary
Working under the supervision of the Infrastructure Workforce Development Manager in the Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Systems (OTIS), the Plug In Philly Project Manager will be responsible for program management and operations for the Plug In Philly Pre-Apprenticeship Program Pilot. This initiative is funded by a $1.47 million federal grant from the Joint Office of Transportation and Energy/US Department of Energy (DOE) and aims to diversify the electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) workforce by recruiting, training, and supporting participants from underrepresented communities.
The program will train 45 participants over two years and three cohorts, in collaboration with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 98, Philadelphia Works Inc., the Community College of Philadelphia, and other key stakeholders. The project includes an innovative and collaborative training curriculum, requiring experience building partnerships with training providers, wraparound service providers, and employers. Plug In Philly includes a robust approach to supportive services to support program success by addressing trainee needs around stipends, transportation, childcare, and career readiness.
The program aims to graduate and place approximately 45 participants across three cohorts in critical emerging EVSE jobs. Program funding is anticipated through to July 2027. This role is an opportunity to synchronize efforts among stakeholders to connect historically underrepresented populations to the growing EVSE workforce in Philadelphia.
This is a grant-funded position. Grant funds are anticipated through at least July 2027.
