Pay Grade: 48 Minimum Qualifications 100% - 1. Three (3) years of experience as a licensed master plumber or State of Tennessee licensed plumbing contractor; and 2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possess a GED; 3. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Examines plans and inspects all new plumbing, septic systems, swimming pools, house trailers (for piping), and checks sanitary conditions. 2. Enforces inspection procedures in relation to the County Plumbing Code and county and state law. 3. Advises of certification of disapproval for inspections indicating specific code violations. 4. Maintains and analyzes records to determine trends which might require special emphasis training or policy. 5. Discusses code interpretations with citizens, contractors, and plumbers. 6. Discusses code interpretations and technical developments with other inspectors. 7. Drives county vehicle to various work locations. 8. Performs other related duties as required or directed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities KSAs and Others - 1. Thorough knowledge of the Shelby County Plumbing Code and the ability to interpret, as required. 2. Effective oral and written communication skills. 3. Ability to work with plumbing contractors and public citizens. 4. Ability to analyze trends in plumbing code violations. 5. Ability to train plumbing inspectors, when required. Physical Requirements 1. Must possess the physical dexterity to access all areas during construction including, but not limited to, stooping, climbing ladders, accessing attics and walking on uneven terrain. 2. Must pass a physical examination. 3. Exposure to areas under construction.
