Pay Grade: 45 Minimum Qualifications 100% - 1. Two (2) years' counseling experience, preferably with youth; and 2. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in social sciences, psychology, criminal justice, behavioral sciences or related degree; OR 3. Equivalent combination of related education and/or experience. 4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Schedules and conducts pre-hearing and/or pre-trial interviews, investigations with juveniles, defense counsel and other parties in juvenile cases regarding delinquent, unruly, traffic-related, abandoned, transient allegations in/out of state, youth non-compliance with court orders, petitions to modify placement and protective custody orders; walk-in clients. 2. Compiles, researches, verifies and records information (legal, social, psychological, education) of those charged with delinquent/unruly offenses to further evaluate information. Drafts case narratives for Attorney Generals Office, Juvenile Defenders Office, and Magistrates to include recommendations for trial dispositions. Formulates written reports for Judicial Office on each juvenile certified for transfer to the adult system. 3. Reviews and researches charging instruments for legal basis. Evaluates appropriateness of charge according to local, state and federal laws regarding the perpetrator and victim. Identifies and investigates victim (loss, injury, damage) and witnesses. Makes recommendations for charge amendments. 4. Identifies potential risk factors and collaborates with defense counsel on intervention strategies. Implements and processes files upon court dispositions for closure and implements corrective court action and closure for all diversion appropriate cases. 5. Assists with various tasks of juvenile justice for Attorney Generals Office, Juvenile Defenders Office, Public Defenders Officer and Judicial Office in maintaining docket calendar, scheduling all hearing and trial dates (re-hearings, revocation, and continuances), creating/organizing files, and being present to testify. 6. Prepares, administers and files on behalf of family legal documents to arrange and ensure authorization of court appointed counsel/ representation in all court proceedings. 7. Reviews pre-trial (electronic monitoring) and post-trial (advisements and probation) noncompliance for disposition. 8. Coordinates with the Attorney Generals office for legal guidance in preparation of cases and files all legal documents for Attorney Generals office. Works with Attorney Generals office in summoning victims and substantial witnesses. Sources and schedules court certified interpreters. 9. Serves as courts liaison to support, educate and disseminate court policies, procedures and information to internal staff (Clerk of the Court, Youth Services Bureau, etc) and external interested parties (Sheriffs Office/Detention Services, Criminal Court, Department of Motor Vehicles, Other Jurisdictions, etc). 10. Serves as liaison to distribute Clerk of Court billings for delinquent cases and court-ordered restitution matters between the public and Clerk of Court. 11. Coordinates with Judicial Office implementation and placement of juveniles with Interstate Compact Services, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and TBI Sexual Offender Registry. 12. Provides front-line crisis support to juveniles and families in office, detention, via telephone on as needed basis. Makes appropriate referrals for identified support and service needs in a timely manner. 13. Visits detainees in detention facility. Promotes and ensures safe well being of detainees. Makes special arrangements for detainees when necessary. 14. Disposition of assigned case load as dictated by internal policy. 15. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.     2. Must possess a valid Tennessee drivers license or secure on upon date of employment. 2. Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet county requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment. 3. Must pass a written psychological examination administered by an agency designated by the Juvenile Court of Memphis and Shelby County. 4. Must pass criminal history background check.
