This position shall be filled in accordance with the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement. ODRC bargaining unit members have selection rights before non-bargaining unit members. Job Duties: Assesses localized facility training needs & plans training activities to meet those needs for annual mandated in-service training and new employee orientation; incorporates annual training mandates into annual facility training plan: schedules & conducts training programs accordingly (e.g., reviews, revises & prepares training materials &/or writes lesson plans; sends training announcements; maintain registration & attendance rosters; schedules instructors &/or instructs classes; reserves training/conference room space); instructs & coordinates new employee orientation & in-service training to include but not limited to firearms, unarmed self-defense, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), OC (pepper spray) & transportation procedures, and if applicable PR24; conducts regular inspections of staff safety equipment, including firearms & firearms related equipment, handcuffs, vests, pepper spray as well as participates in firearm inspections. Maintains employee database (e.g. Enterprise Learning Management) for purposes of creating & completing activities related to employee's training record; maintains records & reports related to training activities (e.g., compiles training data; prepares correspondence; disseminates information regarding scheduling & course material; maintains employee training files); operates audio/visual equipment to include but not limited to VCR's, DVD players, video cameras, digital cameras, overhead projectors, LED machines & computers. Minimum Qualifications 6 courses in human resources, education, sociology or psychology or 18 mos exp in preparing informational or instructional programs; 18 mos trg or 18 mos exp in public speaking or effective communications skills; 3 mos trg or 3 mos exp in operating audio visual equipment. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. Major Worker Characteristics Knowledge of management science (i.e., human resource training & development, containing introduction to behavioral concepts & organization practices related to training & developing human resources & organizational development); agency training practices, programs & policies*; general psychology or education dealing with foundations of learning, transfer, motivation & evaluation; public speaking or effective communication techniques. Skill in operation of audio-visual equipment. Ability to deal with some abstract but mostly concrete variables; write & deliver training information; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; interact with individuals at various educational levels.
