This position shall be filled in accordance with the provision of the SEIU/1199 Collective Bargaining Agreement. ODRC bargaining unit members have selection rights before non-bargaining unit members. Job Duties: Implements direct contact services (e.g., psychiatric, psychological, substance abuse, recreation, education, etc.) to offenders assigned to a specific living unit and caseload. Screens Offenders with the Ohio Risk Reduction System for program placement. Prepares initial social summaries (e.g., interviews offenders, reviews records and compiles social summary reports as needed or assigned) and makes appropriate referrals to treatment units within the institution. Coordinates activities with other treatment units, volunteers and/or community service providers. Writes reports and correlates data as needed to include classification data, pre-parole summaries, admission summaries, parole risk assessments and security designation forms. Writes proposals for unit programs. Develops, implements and conducts unit programming (social and rehabilitative) for offenders on designated caseload. Evaluates programming efforts upon completion of programming. Interviews offenders for inclusion in programs. Compiles visitation lists and collects personal and family information. Handles informal complaints at the unit level. Assists in the administration of offender orientation programs for the unit. Coordinates and arranges for outside agencies and community service providers to augment existing institutional programming and services (e.g., OBES, BVR, Social Security Administration, Dept. of Human Services, Taxation, Children's Services, etc.). Responds to correspondence from community agencies, families, public inquiries, etc. Monitors the completion of parole packets. Works with the Adult Parole Authority in parole issues involving caseload offenders. Completes release of information reports when required for outside agencies. Monitors the maintenance of records of offender participation in programs. Communicates with offender families and others with inquiries concerning status and treatment progress of offenders. Monitors student interns and volunteers in the absence of the unit manager. Serves on various institutional committees concerning assigned caseload (e.g., Classification, Rules Infraction Board, Use of Force, etc.). Directs the unit as assigned in the absence of the unit manager. Other related duties as assigned. A minimum of 76 hours of unit management coverage per week per unit,will be required from unit staff, excluding secretaries and unit officers, to include late nights and weekends. In order to achieve 76 hours of coverage, the Unit Team, when developing proposed schedules, must stay within the following guidelines: ? There should be at least 13 hours of unit coverage Monday through Thursday ? There should be at least 8 hours of coverage Friday through Sunday ? Schedules for week day coverage (Monday-Thursday) should not begin before 7:00 AM or end before 8:00 PM ? Schedules for weekend coverage (Friday through Sunday) should not begin before 7:00 AM or end before 3:00 PM ? There will be no unit coverage provided on holidays Minimum Qualifications Completion of undergraduate core program in social or behavioral science or criminal justice or comparable field. -Or completion of courses required for associate degree in social or behavioral science or criminal justice or comparable field. -Or 2 yrs. exp. in social or behavioral science or criminal justice field which must include all of the following responsibilities: report writing, record keeping, interviewing, counseling & contact with social service agencies. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
