The KBI is accepting applications to fill 2 Forensic Scientist positions in the Chemistry section. These positions will be filled based on your successful level of experience in one of the following: Forensic Scientist I: Hourly Compensation Rate: $22.16 You will go through an intensive training program to perform qualitative/quantitative analysis of drug evidence, paraphernalia and pharmaceuticals using chemical, microscopic and instrumental identification techniques, you will prepare written reports, testify in court as an expert witness, and perform general laboratory duties. Minimum Requirements: -Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in chemistry, forensic science, or other physical or natural science. Preferred Requirements: -Baccalaureate or advanced degree in chemistry or forensic science, and a minimum of 25 hours of chemistry classes to include one year of organic chemistry lecture/lab courses and analytical chemistry lecture/lab coursework Forensic Scientist II: Hourly Compensation Rate: $26.98 You will be expected to perform qualitative/quantitative analysis of drug evidence, paraphernalia and pharmaceuticals using chemical, microscopic and instrumental identification techniques, you will write lab reports, testify in court as an expert witness, and perform general laboratory duties. Minimum Requirements: -Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in chemistry, forensic science, or other physical or natural science. -Two (2) years of relevant work experience. Preferred Requirements: -Baccalaureate or advanced degree in chemistry or forensic science, and a minimum of 25 hours of chemistry classes to include one year of organic chemistry lecture/lab courses and analytical chemistry lecture/lab coursework. -Experience performing independent casework; examining, evaluating and reporting out results in chemistry case work. -Experience testifying in a court of law as a Forensic Chemist. -Experience working in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited forensic science laboratory. Forensic Scientist III: Hourly Compensation Rate: $32.78 You will be expected to perform qualitative/quantitative analysis of drug evidence, paraphernalia and pharmaceuticals using chemical, microscopic and instrumental identification techniques, you will write lab reports, testify in court as an expert witness, perform general laboratory duties, conduct applied research and perform other advanced duties, and you will assist in training of new forensic scientists. Minimum Requirements: -Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in chemistry, forensic science, or other physical or natural science. -Three (3) years of relevant work experience. Preferred Requirements: -Baccalaureate or advanced degree in chemistry, forensic science, or other physical or natural science and a minimum of 25 hours of chemistry classes to include one year of organic chemistry lecture/lab courses and analytical chemistry lecture/lab coursework. -Experience performing independent casework; examining, evaluating and reporting out results in chemistry case work. -Experience testifying in a court of law as a Forensic Chemist. -Experience working in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited forensic science laboratory. TRAVEL You are expected to travel to the locations required to competently and diligently discharge the assigned duties. Occasional in-state and limited out-of-state travel may be required. You are required to have a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
