Job ID 218176 Location Police Protection Full/Part Time Full-Time Regular/Temporary Regular Hourly Salary Range Minimum $17.447422 Maximum $25.300152 Job Details *****THE HOURS FOR THIS POSITION IS SET FOR: Thursday through Monday 6:00 P.M. to 3:00 A.M., (Tuesday / Wednesday OFF)*****ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSProcesses all record entries, modifications, clearances, and cancels in the TCIC/NCIC system on persons or property by researching, compiling and verifying the accuracy and completeness of our law enforcement information while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Completes all confirmation processes and paperwork for persons or property listed as wanted or stolen by our agency on the regional, state and national databases; when pertaining to prisoner information create and/or update offense reports and update jail systems with the associated information. Completes quality control by auditing each entry, modification, clearance or cancel performed in our internal systems, the state and national databases both at the time of the action and again during the state regulated monthly validation process. Researches various law enforcement internal and external databases to compile informational packets on persons or locations at the request of PD personnel for various investigative purposes or to comply with state regulations. Processes all incoming and outgoing teletype communication to and from our agency with other state and national law enforcement agencies. Audits CID investigative notes and the master status of incident reports to ensure TCIC/NCIC offense report information and the entries are accurate. Serves as the contact for other law enforcement agencies in regards to City of Planos agency TCIC/NCIC inquiry or report information. Researches internal and external databases to help ensure our agencies compliance with laws regarding foster homes and attempted kidnapping reports and ensure the required follow up with the associated government agencies is completed. Verifies that warrants issued by the City of Plano are received and entered into the TCIC/NCIC system; works with the Police Records Coordinator to ensure all TCIC/NCIC information is appropriately documented and tracked during the case filing process. Notifies detectives of property being purged from the TCIC/NCIC system and processing re-entry procedures when requested. Identifies and corrects VIN information in our internal system and the CRIS Crash system; works with the Police Records Coordinator to complete any research for CarFax reports related to crashes. Performs other duties as assigned. Typical Decisions: Decides when to enter, modify information into the TCIC/NCIC system so that officers nationwide can take action based on the entries and the information within. Properly clears or cancels information from the TCIC/NCIC system to ensure that officers can take correct actions to avoid a potential false arrest situation; some FBI Crime Reporting is completed based on our proper clear or cancel process within our internal system. Decides which law enforcement system will be searched based on the request that is completed to avoid criminal and/or administrative sanctions against the user and the agency. Administrative sanctions against the agency could result in a temporary disconnection of use of the systems crippling our Police Department in their daily functions. Properly identifies information referencing a particular person or property when completing research for PD Personnel in order to ensure correct investigation or actions being done by an officer or the agency. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of: The information placed on the state and national systems and the resulting work directly affects the actions that law enforcement personnel make nationwide. One single error can result in a costly law suit for the City of Plano. This specific area of knowledge is highly regulated on both a state and federal level (multiple 1500 plus page manuals on the various systems). Personnel must not only be well versed in the City of Plano's multiple law enforcement databases they must also be well versed in the laws, rules and regulations with the additional state and national databases they must utilize in the course of their daily duties. Skill in: Typing Speed: 50 words/minute Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Associate's Degree, 2 year technical certificate, or 60 college hours preferred. Experience: Two (2) years of previous administrative or clerical experience. Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements Licenses and Certifications: It is a state regulation that personnel be required to obtain the following certifications within 6 months of hire: - TCIC/NCIC Full Access Certification Course (16 hours) - TLETS Certification Course (24 hours) - TLETS Certification (on-line test) Physical Demands and Working Conditions: This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
